Unfair Advantages

I'll say this before I continue with my main point. Minorities are not disadvantaged like before. There is no more segregation of African Americans, no more unfair treatment of any particular race. Everyone is entitled to equal education, everyone is entitled to anything - it's just a matter of having the will power and determination to achieve 'it' or get 'it' whatever that 'it' may be. A minority isn't any less of an intelligent person compared to a white person either...everyone is created equal. When applying for a job, minorities are not discriminated by because of skin color, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexuality...anything. Everything is out there, and everyone has an equal oppurtunity on things. This is why I absolutely hate when - minorities especially - think that they are so unfairly treated. I read this post on facebook by a black girl who thinks that she and her race should still be given advantages over other races because of slavery and segregation. (I wish I could find the post, but I can't) She talks about slavery, and everything that happened a very very very long time ago. Basically, she's talking about things that have absolutely no affect on modern day black people. (or minorities) The ironic thing about it is she lives in one of the richest cities in all of Michigan. She lives in a gigantic mansion, she goes to University of Michigan, and she's still saying this. Please, tell me? How can you be disadvantaged with those credentials? She's definetly in a better position than I am. Basically, this is all about affirmative action - I just don't support it. It is segregation - it is being racist against a group of people who did absolutely nothing wrong. It is government sponsored racism - how can that be right? I'm 18, and I finally get to vote - you guys all know what I'll be voting for.

I've been against AA for a long time, and I agree it is racism. I mean if a white guy and a black guy come in and apply for the same job, and are both equally qualified than the black guy will get the job. for the most part inequalities do not exsist any more, or atleast not in any reputible organization. For those that will say blacks have a disadvantage, that isn't true. a lot of the things that cause blacks to fail is blacks themselves and their culture. a lot of them come from areas were nobody has ever succeeded and they actually take pride from that. but any person no matter the creed or color can succeed if they just try.

I imagine the reason she was saying something like that is so that she can actually feel black. She sits there in her big mansion, going to a nice school using scholarships she attained by the color of her skin, and the rest of the things she needs and wants are paid for by her parents, right? So the only way she can feel secure about herself is to say, "My ancestor was persecuted! Blah blah I'm black we're disadvantaged!" I think black people have the hardest time with not feeling like their own race. I mean, when white people feel like another race usually it's because they're doing something. Like, they're acting black or acting AZN

or whatever. For black people, they don't have to do anything. All you can do is shake your head at their insecurity and move on.

I get tired of black people complaining about it, in my opinion they are still behind most of the country because they blame everyone else for their problems instead of working hard to correct them.

Black people can not blame white people anymore - Black people who are in bad situations are there because their parents didn't work hard enough to get a college education, and thats why those kids are also in that position - but they also can get out of that bad situation by working their asses off just like everyone else to get a good educaton. With working hard comes rewards, there are so many scholorschips, and financial aid is a huge help - so the money problem I don't even want to hear about it. It's up to the Black race to raise themselves up - they've been equal for a long time now and the results are not looking great...but they are improving.

I think it's ridiculous that people use the racism card for their own troubles. I won't deny that there are SOME racist people out there, but it's a pretty dang small amount. in fact, people try to be so politically correct nowadays that sometimes the 'minority' gets the advantage. like redneck said with the jobs.

its been less than 100 sh*t 70 years since us(blacks) were treated like crude.Alot of our problems still stem cause its very new compared to other's.Not using it as a scapegoat but just 60 years ago we were still gettin openly lynched in some places and rights were severly handicapped....now im not one to get into all that sh*t but some of black america's problems still stem from issues way back when..the day I can honestly walk into a rural mississippi waffle house with my b-ball shorts and tall-t's are rare

That might be true, but I wasn't speaking about racsim in that small scale. I'm talking about Minorities in institutions like Universities, and jobs, etc. AA was built to help minorities, but it shouldnt be at the expense of totally innocent white people. Also, so you all know...I am a minority...So I am saying this out of true belief that this is wrong.

Totally innocent white people are exactly that..totally innocent..I agree on that..jobs are basically always gonna be that way cause there lookin for a certain image..depends on the job really.......unless they need to boost there company minority hirings

Just recently, a minority group petitioned to UCLA to allow more black students in because they are a minority. That isn't fair to all the other applicants trying to get in. This needs to end, it's like after Hurricane Katrina when all the black people effected acted as if the poor government response was because they were black. 99% of black people don't have a remote idea of how hard their ancestors had it 140 years ago and yet, they act like they're in the same situation. They should be thankful to be black in the USA because it's still a lot worse being black anywhere else.

I think theres still racism, they just dont express it like people used to. Its really the older generations that are like this. When a white woman is terrified only cause a black man is on the elevator, I think thats somewhat a form of racism cause you already have a opinion on a person just because they are black. I agree, alotve people play the race card, but it isnt exactly gone. Theres a kid who I know who I swear he always blames a F or a bad conduct grade on teachers being racist, when he is just a bi*ch at school. So its a problem when people play the race card, but seeing different stuff with my onw two eyes, its still out there....mainly outside of Memphis, dont meet to many racist people in Memphis.
