So I just got the OK from AT&T to unlock my iPhone 6+........

Going to Brazil and AT&Ts International packages are garbage! So I was told to unlock my phone and use it with T-Mobile while I'm down there. They have a fantastic international package. I'll just cancel after I return the end of August.

I just backed it all up on my home computer. Now what...... bring it in to T-Mobile and just put their SIM card in? Trying to look online on how to do it and all it does is tell you how to get permission. Doesn't tell you what to do AFTER you get the OK! Help!

You are planning to die, what do you need a phone for?

I don't think Verizon locks their phones anymore.

You should be able to just swap SIMs whenever you want.

Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date...

You're not really getting the whole, your shit is going to get jacked in Rio, thing.

Buy a $20 pre-paid android smartphone from T-Mobile. If it gets stolen, no big deal, if it doesn't get stolen, no big deal. You're going to be a sad panda when someone sticks a knife in your face for your iphone 6+.

So just need to pop in the Mobile SIM card is what some of you are thinking?

I know I know. Trust me.
I said yes to working this last winter. Literally had not thought about this trip until about 10 days ago. Have been reading every tweet and article and watched every news piece available on how it is down there. It's bad, but I gotta make that money. I had about 30 friends of mine working down there for the World Cup and said it was fine. Of course there is shady shit going on in the favelas...... but where we are in TV compounds and hotels are very secure. Who knows, unfortunately, something might happen down there. Hope I'm nowhere near it.

Just pretend you're in LA. It's not much different.

Only certain plans have the unlimited roaming. Not sure if it'll work, but it might. Who knows, they have different SIMs/plans. I don't think its as simple as popping the SIM card in though.

You have to choose the carrier/network in settings unless that is picked up by the SIM.

Going with TMOBILE for one month. $50 International has unlimited data and text.......20 a min for calls. I'll just call over wifi. Heading down there right now.

Get two phones, then carry one with you and leave the other in your hotel safe. That way, when you're inevitably robbed the first time, you'll have a hassle-free replacement right away...

...and don't forget to download Pokemon Go!

POKEMON GO COSTS GYMNAST $4,954
Japanese Olympic gymnast Kohei Uchimura ran up an outrageous roaming bill on his cell phone after many unsuccessful attempts to play the popular game in Rio. The worst part? Pokemon GO has not even been released in Brazil yet. Pokemon NO!

eh, he'd have to buy a Brazillian Sim card then.
Why? Two phones, each set up independently, one stays with him, the other goes in the safe. Auto-backup all data and photos. If the first phone goes bye-bye, simply download the backed-up data, and go about your business.

Again, you'll only have one SIM card though. If the phone with the sim card is stolen he'd either have to go all wifi or buy a new brazillian sim.
