Up to 2 Million March on D.C. to Protest Big Spending

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

In a chilling forecast, the White House is predicting a 10-year federal deficit of $9 trillion — more than the sum of all previous deficits since America's founding. And it says by the next decade's end the national debt will equal three-quarters of the entire U.S. economy.
Holy crap. If you didn't know any better, you'd think Obama is trying to ruin this country.

I really really doubt many of the people who are at the 9/12 gathering, actually have looked at the budget or projected deficits. Nor has any of Obamas' spending gone into effect.

I suppose rather than honestly adressing the grievances of the protesters, it's simply easier to dismiss the opposition as ignorant, uneducated, ill-informed and racist.

Very interesting. I'm looking on all the news sites for reporting on this supposed 2 million-person march on Washington.

Nothing. Not on Yahoo, not on CNN.com, and Drudge, who would be reporting about this story personally, since it's so huge? Well, no, it links to a story on the British Daily Mail website, which seems to be the root of the entire story.

It's not even on Foxnews.com, which would be screaming this fact at the top of their lungs for weeks.

If a racist old white idiot screams in the woods, does it make a sound that should be ignored and/or laughed at?

I've never watched Beck, but I don't have someone who has committed homicide as my avatar, either.

I dunno, that guy in your avatar looks like a serial killer to me.

you're a funny man. aside from president obama's political experience- he was the former president of the harvard law review, the first black president i might add. many of the conservatives who worked on the review went on to work for george bush's admin. conversely, glenn beck is nothing more than an obnoxious talk radio personality who profits in the millions on the irrational fears of retarded arse americans.

here's a sample of glenn beck's greatest hits:

Thanks for making my point for me even though you have no comprehension of it.

It is a little picture but those look like dimples. Are there any confirmed serial killers that had dimples?

Maybe they all did and I missed it. Hmmmmm?

How many women has Glenn Beck killed?

:)

Ed O.

well he did advocate the killing of nancy pelosi so he's sorta kinda on par with sen kennedy.

Absolutely. Bobby "Dimples" Dalrimple killed 13 people in Arkansas and Oklahoma between 1935 and 1938. Most of those killed were doctors; one was a handyman who was unlucky enough to go by the nickname "Doc". Dalrimple was angry over a botched medical procedure which left his face pitted and scarred.

You are just a fucking genius...or a google master. Either way, thanks.

Now I gotta go google search that to see if you are lying.

Wait, I found something about a movie called Too Fat to Fight released in 1918? How old are you?

Or are YOU Bobby Dalrimple? I couldn't find any info on google. The only way you could know about it is if you were involved.

Interesting.

I thought the same thing, since this is obviously a huge event. I mean, even Fox news!?!?!!! There's definitely SOME media bias but even right wing leaning press didn't give it much attention.

Just speculating, maybe they don't want to seem supportive of this movement by giving them air time. OR maybe the event planners didn't publicize it well and media outlets simply missed it???

Anyway, I expect this all to change next week. There will be more press after all the attendees return home, "blog" and/or upload their video to "You tube"

I just saw this posted on Fox News. link

The tens of thousands of protesters marched to the U.S. Capitol chanting various slogans and waving posters that voiced a rather broad array of grievances against big government and the leaders, particularly President Obama, who the protesters blame for its size and scope.

It looks like the 2 million number was inflated. "Inflated by who?" you ask? We'll have to start another thread blaming the Democrats and Republicans to do that.

Did you see the pictures of the demonstration? That was a MASSIVE amount of people. Haven't seen a crowd that big in Washington for a long time.

blah blah blah whine whine whine

I remember protesting Bush so many fucking times, walking by storm troopers, smelling tear gas.

You know what it accomplished? Fucking nothing.

Guess what this will accomplish.

It boggles the mind just how upset people are about changing healthcare.

It's not like we're talking about national security, or invading a country (that had nothing to do with 9/11, or attacking us in anyway)..we're talking about practice..er..I mean, we're talking about healthcare.

Where were these idiots when we our previous president was spending us into massive debt?

It's incredibly hard not to see this as a bunch of (mostly) scared older white people who hate the fact a black man is President.

Why is it that everyone who doesn't fully support Obama's ideas are racist?

I think these people have had enough with over taxation (IMHO), big government and the national debt that seems to have finally mushroomed to the point that at some point in time in the near future the US government will become insolvent. They certainly have a right to their opinion and to demonstrate. I understand the lefties don't feel they have those rights, but they do. I think we're seeing the beginning of a large group of people fed up with the way the feds (both left & right) governs.

I agree, there were a lot of people but from reports I've read the numbers top out at 100k max.

I'd say the last time a crowd at least a big as that amassed in D.C. was for the Obama inauguration.

I'm glad Farakahn didn't plan million man march at this same time.

Talk about chaotic

And nobody cares, just like when over 20 million took to the streets to protest the war in Iraq. So when 10 times the people came out to fight the other Hitler aka Bush nobody cared. So I will simply do what the conservatives did, why are all these unemployed people out there wasting time, they should be looking for jobs.

The day of the Million Man March was pretty funny in DC. Most people took the day off from work, so the Metro was empty. And a whole bunch of women at my work left early to get laid.

As many as 2 million protesters attend 9/12 Washington, D.C. Tea Party Rally

Saturday's "Tea Party" rally in Washington, D.C. far exceeded almost all expectations. Local police agencies estimated around 1.2 million people attended the rally, but several news outlets, including ABC and Fox News, said the crowd was nearly double that, with an estimated 2 million people in attendance.

It's amazing how acceptable outrageous lies are these days.

Here is ABC News' response to this story.

ABC News said:
Conservative activists, who organized a march on the U.S. Capitol today in protest of the Obama administration's health care agenda and government spending, erroneously attributed reports on the size of the crowds to ABC News.

Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks, the group that organized the event, said on stage at the rally Saturday that ABC News was reporting that 1 million to 1.5 million people were in attendance.

At no time did ABC News, or its affiliates, report a number anywhere near as large. ABCNews.com reported an approximate figure of 60,000 to 70,000 protesters, attributed to the Washington, D.C., fire department. In its reports, ABC News Radio described the crowd as "tens of thousands."

It's also amazing how many people accept lies as facts without giving even the barest minimum of thought to whether the claim is plausible.

Here's what (supposedly) 1.5M Iraq War protesters looked like:

And 9/12:

And the 1M Women march from 2004:

Neither of those is a picture of 1.5M people. Presumably neither shows every person in attendance, either, so I don't think the pictures prove anything.

How do I know that isn't 1.5M people? That photo is, on my screen, 12 square inches. If there were 1.5M people, that works out to an average of 125,000 people per square inch. However, my monitor has only about 10,000 pixels per square inch. Thus there should be 12.5 people per pixel in the photograph. Yet I can distinguish individuals in the photo.
