I think Jones can play sf. That's what I'd want him for anyways

It's not like 29 teams have cap space.. only a few do. We might have time give up a 2nd down the line but it's worth it.I would think that Presti will go out of his way not to reward the Blazers with either Perry Jones or Augustin.
We are option #29 for him.

Yeah, but we'll get notified about the Kanter match and then we'll call him.I know. I was embellishing. I am just saying we will not be his first call.
Presti might want to trade with the Blazers even after this because 1) we have the cap space and 2) we aren't a threat to compete in the playoff race. Last thing he would want is to trade Perry or anyone and then have to face that trade in the playoffs.
Now that OKC has matched (phew), I suggest we use the cap space to absorb players from luxury-tax-paying teams. I understand that the luxury tax is extra bad if you're a repeat offender. I don't know how many teams are, but I know Brooklyn is, so my suggestion (as I said in the Kanter thread) is to absorb Joe Johnson's salary in return for picks, unprotected like the one we got from the Nets that turned into Lillard.
But: what picks do the Nets have? There's also Miami:
Basically, This.We will be the call right aftet they pay the luxury tax.
Getting Deng would be crazy, and he would not be happy.
To answer my own question: Mo Harkless!Okay, who?
Good question. So what is the difference between waiving and amnesty?Unfortunately for my idea, it looks like the Deron Williams waiving already drops Brooklyn below the line. I didn't know that waiving could do that. They still have to pay the bulk of his salary, though.
Why would Deng not be happy in Portland?
I havent watched a ton of him. But he is young with plenty of potential at a position of need. He can create his own shot and has crazy length. One of the games I did get to see him play was this one
We also don't have Chicago winters. Portland winters are very mild compared to most places in the US.Because this team will suck and doesn't have Miami winters.
Well that didn't last long:I just realized that the Nets two PGs right now are: Steve Blake and Jarrett Jack. Ah, memories.
amnesty is a one time thing and the player's salary goes off the cap. Waiving a player does not make that player's salary off your cap. That's why there are "bad contracts" in the NBA where the player's value to the team is much less than their contract amount.Good question. So what is the difference between waiving and amnesty?
So what does Brooklyn gain by waiving Williams?amnesty is a one time thing and the player's salary goes off the cap. Waiving a player does not make that player's salary off your cap. A nice reputation. Same thing Dallas was going for by giving Wes the max. No tangible benefit that I'm aware of.So what does Brooklyn gain by waiving Williams?
