So there is no safe guard for preventing illegal aliens from getting food stamps and other kinds of assistance?
yes there is. If they are not legal citizens or if they dont meet residency requirements (5 years residency) they do not qualify for benefits. Only citizens or those who meet residency requirements can get the benefits. In families where there is a micture of undocumented family members, and citizen, there is a prorated amount of benefits that can be received for the citizen/qualified member.
IE a family of 5 with 2 undocumented parents, but 3 citizen children. After looking at all the income (including those who would not qualify for benefits) If the family of 5 would qualify for, lets say $500 in Food Stamps, they would only receive the prorated amount for the citizens, so in this example $300. Same with allowable deductions, like Rent/Shelter deductions taken into account. If the family of 5 pays $500 rent, the only deduction they would qualify for would be the prorated $300 deduction, not the full amount.
Does that make sense at all? I know I jumbled it together lol
