Vancouver. Lol

Any tips?

I've been a bunch of times, but its been a few years. Wife's never been. Staying downtown at the FORMER Trump hotel lol. Paradox Hotel or some shit.

Rough Plans:
Get in late Thursday night.

Friday: Maybe take some E-Bikes to Stanley Park. Hit up Richmond Night market in the evening (maybe)

Saturday: Capilano Suspension Bridge + Grouse Mountain

Sunday: May take a boat ride. Flight doesn't leave until 8pm so need to fill the day up.

Gonna check out different areas of downtown, Granville Island etc to fill in the gaps too.

The Shark Club is a good sports bar in downtown Vancouver. It's been over 20 years since I've been there though lol. I checked and it's still there though.

Anyone ever been to the Mammoth dig site in Hot Springs SD? Was really cool. They are slowly uncovering many different mammoths. I would post pictures, but they always end up sideways for some reason.

Looks like I'll be going to Phillippines in October 2023. Cousin getting married in Boracay.

Not sure if we will add another side trip to it to HK or Singapore, we will see. Depends on how long we are needing to stay in Phillippines.

Going to attempt to do a Paris trip next spring.

The drive from Vancouver to Whistler on a clear day is amazing. There is a gondola on the way you can ride

Probably not gonna have a car. My parents and my brother and his fam may drive up from Seattle. But probably end up going to Grouse Mountain.

I'm looking at a 5 day weekend in early October.

Thinking Hawaii or Miami/Florida Keys. Both are reasonably priced right now, but its still techincally Hurricane season in S Florida.

Small chance I may try to squeeze a trip to Paris if the rates are good.

Just got back from Solana Beach and Del Mar area. We had a great spot on Solana bluff. It's a little spendy but otherwise a perfect location. The beach and stairs are kind of hidden so you have to know they are there and it's a lot of stairs so they beach was not crowded. All in all it was a perfect little get away and visit with family.

No more trips planned for now. Good chance I get back to Germany in the fall and maybe Mexico again in the winter.

My friend is posting pics of his trip with his fam through Germany. They rented a car, looks awesome. one of my friends told me to try to come out to Oktoberfest, but now that I'm whipped, I doubt my wife will let me roll without her lol.

Hmm...it ends October 3rd, thats my intended travel weekend, maybe we can catch the last day lol.

If you come to FL, you could always rent our little place for a few days. :)

Is going up in a seaplane while out in the Seattle worth it?

If you haven't been to Germany then go for it! I had a great time and just loved it. There's not much that stands out as far as specific attractions (besides castles), it more like everything is just so damn pleasant. All the little villages are just super cute and all the food, beer and wine is top notch. The big cities are really clean and organized also. I don't drive but apparently it's just as easy to drive as the US and you can even rent high end sports cars for the Autobahn. Octoberfest would be fun, but I also think it could just be a mess if drunk tourists if your not in the right spot. We are considering October for another visit but lots of moving parts before we decide to make it official. If I make it back this fall I would like to fly into Frankfurt again, head down to Munich for a few days then take a long slow train ride through the Swiss Alps, ending in Zurich for some fondue.

I live in Seattle. I have never done this. I don't think I would either, but if you are interested, check it out. One thing I have been meaning to do is you can rent hot-tub boats in Lake Union. link

It looks like a lot of fun. I would rather spend the money on an Argosy Cruise. You get to be outdoors. Still see the water. Maybe do the Locks tour if it is available.

I did do a seaplane tour of Kodiak Island once in Alaska and that was unbelievable. But you also got to see a lot of wildlife, etc.

I've been on a bus tour with my family. https://www.trafalgar.com/en-us/tours/best-of-germany?seasongroup=summer 2023

That was basically the tour we did.

We were actually in Munich about a week before Oktoberfest so there was some celebrating and we walked by the (closed) amusement park area where they hold it.

I did the Argosy Cruise to that Island where they grill the salmon. Pretty cool.

Has anyone been to Tahiti? Alaska just partnered up with Air Tahiti and they have some pretty good deals up for next May, and June is coming out daily. I might even be able to score business class with my miles on a good deal. It's a dream spot for my wife so I am strongly considering it.

If we did it, I was thinking like 4 days in Bora Bora and then another 4 on another island. Seems pretty spendy even with the free tickets tho.

For anyone else interested there are also great airmile deals, including business class deals for Japan and London for next spring.
