As massive as NYC is, you actually can get a lot done just walking around. If not, jump in a cab for a few mins. Brooklyn Bridge, Times Sq, 9/11, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Empire State, you can see and do a lot in two days. And after those two days you'll be ready to go. Its like Vegas. Awesome for a short time.

Thanks for that. Yeah, the 9/11 Memorial is definitely a bucket list item for me. My wife has been there a number of times and she told me the boat trip around the SOL is fantastic. I also want to get over to where Jimmy Hoffa is buried.

Did a quick daytrip to San Diego to meet up with my 1.5 year old nephew and brother and his wife, who I haven't seen since March 2020. It was pretty busy out there in the touristy areas.

We just got back from staying at a Riu Palace in Playa Del Carmen. It was really f'ing nice. Would stay again with them. Very impressed.

The images aren’t working for some reason?

Was the food okay? The biggest complaints I hear are about the food and the drinks aren’t strong enough. I kinda take it with a grain of salt because some people like to bitch no matter what

The food was really good. Breakfast and Lunch was a buffet. Dinner you could pick a restaurant or the buffet, ate at the italian, steakhouse, and buffet, all were great.

Drinks were strong but we always tipped.

Find a Rooftop to have a drink on
Trump Tower
9/11 Site
I did a nice boat tour on the river called "Lobster Tour" or some shit. It was $10, they served lobster rolls and beers you could buy and it was a good view.

Can confirm half this list from my two-week trip I had a few weeks back. Didn't accomplish as much as I wanted since I did have to work, too. I will say, some of the best days we had were just slowly walking from bar/pub/restaurant to bar/pub/restaurant snacking, drinking and people-watching. Found some cool small joints for concerts in the evenings, especially in Brooklyn.

My best trip to NY, though, was going up into Geneva/Finger Lakes.

Oddly, I've never been to NYC. For those of you who've been, if you had 2 solid no travel days there, what would be your gotta do's?

Thanks in advance.
There's too much to see in a week let alone two days.
First, I'd start with taking one of the tour buses. Sit on top on a sunny day so you can get the best view. Get off and get back on any time during tour hours for free. See what you want to see more of.
Second, buy a slice of pizza at any of a Million places in Manhattan. The closer to Times Square the more choices, but not to worry, if you like thin crust pizza, and I do, you'll love anyplace.
Go to the top of the Empire State building or go to the top of the Chrysler building which is nearly as tall as the Empire State building.
Go to Radio City Music Hall.
I've never been to the Museum of Natural History but I hear it's spectacular.
My niece once played the cello at Madison Square Garden where the Knicks play so I guess that's pretty iconic.

Just got back from Hawaii / Oahu. It was crowded as fuck being memorial day weekend. I did a COVID-19 test 3 days before (cost $90). Waikiki was an absolute madhouse (moreso than before). Stayed at Beachcomber by Waikiki which was a good, solid hotel that was recently remodeled.

They lifted the mask mandates outdoors right before I left, but even then, there were a lot of people wearing masks still. Nightlife was closed (bars had "seating" and live entertainment but it was often lines to get in, limited capacity, no dancing, etc). Ended up having a few drinks at Rumfire in the Sheraton which was nice.

Restaurant waits were insane. 50% capacity, so like 2hour+ waits weren't unusual. Even McDonalds had like 30 people waiting in line. I was able to get a rental car for two days for a normal price ($90 a day), but I booked way long ago, prices now are much higher.

Vegas in 2 weeks. This should be wild, as its all "back to normal" now there. They restarted live bands on Fremont Street and Clubs are now operating as Clubs again.

Thinking about honeymoon locations. We were thinking of doing a quick Cabo trip as a mini-moon, but honestly, Ive been there and doesn't exicite me too much.

Maybe later next year, was thinking of getting this trip on Costco Travel for Bora Bora

I'm thinking I will get bored after the first day or two in a place like that. I'm a city person. We'll see.

Was considering the maldives, but its like 30 hours to fucking get there.

Planning to take the kids to Idaho for amusement/water parks (both Silverwood and Roaring Springs). Will then rent a car and drive to Yellowstone.

@jonnyboy - other than Yellowstone, what's fun for a dude with two kids (age 10 and 5) to do in Wyoming?

I was in Wyoming last summer, the Buffalo Bill Center was pretty cool.

Staycation downtown Nashville over the 4th. Awesome fireworks show.

Ive stayed at the Opryland Hotel a few times. Massive and nice. I thought Nashville and Knoxville were two of the cleanest cities Ive visited in North America.

Yellowstone is great, but pretty busy during summer months. Most Wyoming folk don’t really go there because it can be like an amusement park at times. Definitely go though, it’s worth it for sure. I would maybe get out of the park scene and hit some two lane highways, gravel roads, small towns, mountain tops, streams and lakes. Bridger-Teton and Shoshone national forests have plenty of all that and are on that side of the state. Or you could head out of the NE park entrance on 212 toward Montana, go over the Beartooths and hit Cooke City and Red Lodge.

Leave.

Heh, too late. We just booked arriving Black Friday and returning the next Tuesday.

Incredibly, my wife just booked 3 nights for free and 1 night on points (some type of Hilton Honors deal she had sitting around) in a king suite at the Conrad Hotel on W. 54th. Apparently, according to the Hilton booking gal who was born/raised in NYC, this is one of Hilton's exquisite mid-town hotels - right near Central Park, Carnegie Hall, and the like. Plus, she said this is one of the absolute best times of the year to visit as it's the beginning of Christmastime in the Big Apple! My wife also got us tickets to Wicked. I've never been to NYC, let alone a Broadway play. SO excited!!

@Lanny would be proud. :)
