Yeah, we like shopping, restaurants and modern conveniences and things to do.

Not a fan of Mexico, probably because I used to go there for work a shit ton and got sick of it.

Never been to the Gulf side, just PV, Mazatlan, Cabo on a cruise, and Cabo by itself and Acapulco/Mexico City a bunch of times.

The all inclusive resorts look like a landlocked cruise line. The bars are too cheeseballs, either EDM clubs on the beach or dudes blowing whistles n' shit.

First time when we purchased last October. Headed back in May with my wife's sis and hubby. Plan to go once or twice a year.

I’ve been to Mexico 5 times, my parents have been close to 20. Neither of us have had the edgy crime aspect affect us in any way.
 
Just got back from Teotihuacán!

I love Mexico City more than any other part of Mexico that I’ve been to (cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Aguascalientes), although I haven’t been to Cancun yet lol.

I did have a hospital visit early yesterday morning after eating something bad lol
 
Also, the women’s day March yesterday was pretty crazy to witness. Supposedly 90k marched.They started like right outside our hotel, and broke a shit ton of windows on a government building on the other side of the street.

I love CDMX also, such a great and underrated city. Did you go to Xochimilco or Coyoacan? If you like that area check out the cities just north, San Miguel, Queretaro, Guanajuato. Bernal, Tequisquipan are all top notch locations and you feel more like your in Spain than Mexico. Most of the awesomness of CDMX without all the crazyness.

Cancun is fun but its kind of the sleezy part of mexico. You cant beat the beaches and ruins close by but Cancun is mostly all inclusives and party people. Even Playa del Carmen is too much these days. Akumal and Tulum are kind of the sweet spots in that area imo.
 
Headed to New Orleans for a few days next week, any recommendations for some off the radar stuff to do? Have all the basics down but still have room for a couple more things that maybe aren't the normal touristy things.

If you have a car you really need to check out the Redneck Riviera along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Take the I-10 east, then drop down to Hwy 90 and wind your way back west. It is a very scenic and worthwhile drive, with casinos, interesting towns and other attractions all along the way. Leave in the morning and you'll get back to NO by late afternoon......assuming you don't get distracted. Why anyone would go to Vegas when they can do the Gulf Coast is beyond me....other than March Madness. The food is much better too. I toured it a few years back on my way to hook up with @BLAZINGGIANTS in NO. I enjoyed it so much That I went back and did it again with BG and it was just as enjoyable the second time around. Mobile Alabama (not much farther east) is a nice place to visit also. A historic downtown (where Mardi Gras actually originated) and a Military Park that is second to none. Just some thoughts......

Interesting ... never would have thought to do that and that's what I'm talking about. Didn't realize it was only about an hourish drive to Biloxi.

Good point. If you go to a Waffle House and don't like it, no problem! There's another one (and another one.....and another one....and another one...) just a mile down the road in either direction. And that isn't much of an exaggeration........

And if you end up in Biloxi, check out MGM Park, home of the Biloxi Shuckers. A sweet little ball field in the shadow of the MGM Grand. The fan shop should be open if you need some Shucker swag......

Honestly never been to a Waffle House, might have to fix that on this trip! As for the Shuckers, I love buying 59/50 hats and have pretty much every MLB one I want, so I've started in on the Minor League hats and there are some great ones out there!
 
Actually.....all the hundreds(?) of Waffle houses I've passed in the last 6-7 years, Ive never been to one either. Maybe next trip....

That’s what I collect as well. We went to the stadium so I could get some swag, including the Shuckers 59/50. They also have t’s for the moms (Mother Shuckers).

I haven’t been to xomochilo but I have been to coyoacan previously. The day we were going to coyoacan on this trip I was sick and didn’t go. I also missed a day trip to Puebla because of being sick lol.

We only had a week and it was my gf first time visiting cdmx so we spent most of the time going to museums and monuments.
