But I think you can watch how they defend, you can watch to see how they read the defense and pass the ball, you can watch if their moves on offense are successful. If a guy can't get past dudes in summer league, it's unlikely those same moves are going to work against starters in the NBA. Keegan Murray was clearly the best player on the floor yesterday. Head and shoulders better than anyone else. Jovic has a really nice shot, and I like how he reads the floor, but when he tries to drive he just really doesn't have the speed or size to impose his will. He also doesn't sniff rebounds because he just floats around the three point line. I don't think that will change.

Yes, I think that's right. You can't evaluate what someone can do, but you can evaluate what they can't.
 
Miller’s stat line through two summer league games: 24 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists, nine turnovers, 13 fouls. He made seven of his 15 shot attempts (47%) and went 4 of 9 from 3-point range.

Most of his points came in garbage time at the end of the first game.
 
I never really got the "it's summer league" argument. It's inferior competition to what a player will be facing in the regular season, so if they don't look good in summer league, how is that a reprieve?

It makes sense to temper a good performance, but now a bad one.
 
i feel like Scoot will wipe the floor with Amen tmrw. The level of competition between GL and OTE is so wide.

'Future All-Star' Jaime Jaquez (according to some in Miami) dropped a pitiful 4 points on 1-6 shooting last night. They were drooling over his Game 1 performance. Crickets about Game 2.

Of course, I'm excited to see the future of the franchise.

Just because I disagree with the path doesn't mean I'm not a fan anymore.

And - to be clear - I agree with you. I've said before Scoot is the better player right now.

That said, there are going to be some interesting matchups that'll show us some glimpses of Shaedon and Scoot vs. above-average defenders.

Scoot / Shaedon vs Jabari / Tari / Amen / Jay Huff and I'm curious to see Whitmore also.

I mean, our SL ‘ship clearly didn’t translate to the regular season…

I actually found one of the biggest revelations about SL to be Batum. Looked lost his first year. I remember so many people being shocked he wasn’t going back to France for at least a year, if not more. But he looked comfortable playing with legit NBA players.
