Reports coming now that its between us, Chicago and the Devils. Hayes/CK plus his agent in with Gorton and NY/MSG might be enough. Chicago has its allure too so we'll see. I cant really see him signing in nj but its possible.

He's coming to NY. Devils are a low class organization that treats its players horribly. Chicago is a city filled with absurd crime.

It will be a good pick up of another young player with talent if we can grab him.

!!!!!!!Getting Vesey would be a coup!!!!!!!

So Rumors says Vessey has narrowed the teams on his list down to the Hawks and Devil, likes flying under the radar. You know what, fuck that pussy, we don't need another pussy ass collegian player. Sign with the Devils you bitch

Well, there's a kid who knows what he wants! I must never take the word of here say
rumors so generously offered on this board!
With that said, this kid and the rest of the youth on board have finally given this team
some depth..........let's hope there is toughness with this group.

If he signs with NJ that tells me 2 things. One, he doesn't care about winning. Devils are rebuilding with a goalie who is 30 and they have horrible defenseman in the system and on the team. Two, he cares about playing his first year more than about winning a spot through earning it. He could walk on the Devils and easily win a spot. On this team he would have to play very well unless they moved Nash.

Agent quoted in Post today that the Rangers are one of the teams on his list. As I suspected he's worried about there being roster spots open for him to make the club. So, if I'm Gorton, I have my Nash deal ready to go and tell Vesey if he signs, a trade will be made to open up a big spot on the wing.

As opposed to the NYR players that treat the organization horribly.......................Nice to see you're still hung up on the Devils, Dumpy

I was waiting for a Devils fan to chime in. The Devils could actually build something significant if the GM traded Schneider for defenseman. It's a no brainer that they should do this. He will gave great value. He's not part of the long term solution. If the made a deal like Schenider for Dumb, Reilly and Minnesota's 2017 1st and took a defenseman, they would really be moving in the right direction. Said many times I like the goalie Blackwood in their system.

The Devils defense is horrible? THen what are the Rangers? One eye stall old giradi with nice anchor contracts no one is touching. Lundqvist at what 35? No cap space to improve the roster and keep dreaming someone is going to take Nash at 8 million. Your best chance is Vegas being stupid enough to take him in the expansion draft.

You realize the Devils defense gave up less goals then the Rangers last year and top 10 in goals against. So their defense is bad? Oooook wonder what atrocious defense would look like? Top 5? Lol

Trade Cory? He's 30 yes but he has been a backup for his career up until two years ago. Many miles left on the tread of those tires not like lundqvist who's going to fall off a cliff any year now and with smaller pads? I'd worry.

So why wouldn't he want to come here?

You honestly can't tell me the Devils aren't trending upward and the rangers are treading water best case.

Again the Rangers have 22 million tied up in their defense 30 if you factor in henrik. And finished worse then the Devils who have 11 million tied up 16 if you count Cory who puts up better numbers then Henrik. I think your the same guy that said the hall for Larson trade wasn't good lol.

I agree the Devils were a horrible orginzation towards players in the past but you can't argue with sir success either. Also that regime is gone and different times.

Blackwood is a nice prospect but that's all he is. Maybe in five years he can step in.....which is when Cory is a ufa. Wedgewood who actually played last year looks like the better prospect right now. The Devils know what they are doing trust me you can't even remotely question any of their decisions.

Besides goalies have zero trade value. You think if you traded lundqvist you would get great value? Hell no and neither would the Devils with Cory. Pens and sharks prove this. Hell bishop going to back to back conference finals is looking to be on his 4th team in his careeeeer!!!!!! So good luck trying to move an elite goalie for anything of big value because ere just instant a market.

agent just said vessey will not sign till at least friday. This is gonna be a horse and pony show. Starting not to like this kid already

There you go now like krider says you can flip a proven 40g Nash since you got an unproven college player that no one projects to be more then a 3rd line player congrats! Krider good play

Nash wont be dealt at this point. They actually need his 30g if they are even going to make the playoffs this year. For the return they'd get its probably better just to keep him this year.

Thank you!

I'm really annoyed at this kid and his agent with the pony show. "Every team is still in contention" he said yesterday, what a crock of shit. You're a rookie, not LeBron James, to keep everyone waiting and sucking him off to get him to join their team.

Im hearing a lot of that and I respectfully disagree with it. He wasn't allowed to speak to any team but Buffalo until 12:01 am on Tuesday. That gave him three full days to talk to teams (assuming decision today). In NHL free agency, free agents can begin talking with other teams on June 25. That's 5 full days before they can sign. So he's actually making a decision faster than any other free agent has to.

As I see it, the kid isn't doing anything wrong. There's no prime time special on ESPN. He spoke with his teams quietly, he hasnt said anything in the press, and will make his decision hopefully today. It's a career-defining decision. It's only being talked about so much because it's mid-august and absolutely nothing else happens in hockey. Just because the media is slobbing over this guy and "sources" are saying this, then saying that, and the twitter idiots can't shut up about it doesnt mean the kid is to blame.

Hopefully he picks us. Then they can concentrate on getting Nash out of here. If the Nash for Girgensons deal is on the table, please do it Gorton.

Hate to feed into the sources game, but...

Arthur Staple (twitter): Nothing final yet, but hearing it's #NYR or #CHI for or Jimmy Vesey. Tavares made a strong pitch for #Isles but they fell short, it appears.

Thats the Isles beat reporter for Newsday. Verified, and usually doesnt do the baseless rumor game. At the very least, can cross one team off the list.

Quite sure Kevin Hayes had nothing good to say about Chicago. It's also far from home.

Prod, don't know how "quietly" he's going about this if we keep hearing of all the players the pursuing teams are sending to convince him to join. To me he's a spoiled brat who's sitting there enjoying the limelight. If he wanted to quietly do this we would not have heard anywhere near as much as we have nor tried to keep the suspense of "everyone is still in it" crap.

Didnt kevin hayes have something in his contract about not being sent to hartford when he did a couple of seasons ago?

Didnt the defenseman, cant think of his name, but was an offensive defensiveman flirt with numerous teams before sertling for edmonton...

Its aug and all the beat writers have nothing else better to do.

Big Daddy what's up my man.

I don't remember if it was actually built into the contract but he was at the least all but guaranteed an NHL spot during the Rangers presentation, which is one of the main reasons why he came here over Chicago.

Yep, Justin Shultz. And even before him we did the same dog and pony show with Matt Gilroy. This happens with a lot of FAs, I think the Vesey thing is just much bigger because (1) we found out he wasnt signing in Nashville a long time ago, so there's been a lot of build up and (2) the twitter idiots and their sources.

ts aug and all the beat writers have nothing else better to do.

Amen.

I get that, but again, I dont see it as his fault. He is meeting with teams and those teams are sending out the parade of players because they want him. I have a hard time believing Vesey told the Islanders that he wanted Tavares to make the pitch. The Isles, I would think, just thought that would be more effective. As for the suspense part, I don't know what else you want him to say. He'll come out with a decision when he makes it, he's not going to issue a statement every time a team is crossed off the list.

And remember, most FAs are not wanted by every team in the league like this. Usually teams get an idea of price and are either in, or look for cheaper help elsewhere. He's getting so much interest because he's young and there's a cap on what his salary can be. The more interest there is, the longer the process stretches on. If he was open to playing anywhere he'd have 32 teams calling.
