This is what I thought as well, but here is his tweet

Today I will not play. I am in the airport to go to Portland. I am grateful that the FEB has allowed me to go to arrange it... I will tell you how it went upon my return!

That is how I translated it anyway. I am almost fluent in Spanish, but I am sure you can correct any errors.

Hoy no jugare. Estoy en el aeropuerto para volar a Portland. Agradezco que la FEB me haya dejado ir para arreglarlo...A la vuelta os cuento!

Yeah, good translation! The announcers didn't say anything in yesterday's game, so I assumed he was playing tonight vs. France (with Batum, unless he's also traveling to Portland... or Minny, xD).

Our next game is friday, so I suppose he'll be there a couple of days to sign and then he'll be back by then.

How much does he sign for? I'm not sure about this if its more than $2mil per. But less than that would be awesome.

I read the other day that he's still bound to the rookie scale, so he can't sign for a whole lotta skrill.

Oh good information! Thats nice to hear we got him on the cheap rookie contract. Heck I'm excited.

Yes Rudy didn't work out here in the long run at all but he still had that great rookie year if Claver just has one year like that it'd make his contract a steal.

Ben Golliver: Blazers officially announce signing of Spanish F Victor Claver. 2 minutes ago

Here's the statement from Portland Trail Blazers GM Neil Olshey on Spanish F Victor Claver, who officially signed on Wednesday: “Victor is a player with a high basketball IQ who will come in as a good complement to our roster,” said Olshey. “He defends well for his size, has a nice shooting touch, and we look forward to having him on board.”

Jason Quick: Blazers' Claver deal is for a total of $4 million over three years. Just slightly more than a rookie scale dea

We're filling up our roster with cheap rookies. We should have plenty of cap space next year to go after James Harden.

Not sure what to think about Victor. He's euroleague production seems pretty paltry, but he seems to have a decent skillset.

Go after Harden next year? Gee, that will be another bit of excitement like the Hibbert chase, and most likely just as productive.

Yeah, but now we have Victor Claver and Joel Freeland to dangle in a sign and trade.

Harden will get the max and the market (Hibbert, Lopez) has been set for Ibaka and he'll also get the max.

They must choose between the two.

2 guards are easier to find then quality big men. I bet they choose I-blocka'!

Harden looks like the best one to go after though. The Thunder have a lot more committed in salary than the Pacers had. They have 40 mill locked into Durant, Westbrook and Perkins, and both Ibaka and Harden will be coming due.

Wow, the 2009 draft was not bad at all in the bottom half of the first:

Code:
17.	76ers Jrue Holiday PG
18.	Timberwolves	Ty Lawson PG
19.	Hawks Jeff Teague PG
20.	Jazz Eric Maynor PG
21.	Hornets Darren Collison PG
22.	Trail Blazers	Victor Claver SF
23.	Kings Omri Casspi SF
24.	Mavericks	B.J. Mullens C
25.	Thunder Rodrigue Beaubois	PG
26.	Bulls Taj Gibson PF

I still maintain the Blazers were sure they'd get ONE of those PGs that went five-in-a-row before Claver, and that he was a fallback.

wendell maxey ‏@w_maxey
newest @pdxtrailblazers victor claver got some run for spain & pulled in 10 points & 9 rebounds in the win over france on sunday.

The problem with Rudy was that he was a star in the Euro-leagues and we were promised the same here. He was good, starter caliber rotation guy (before Ariza) - but he still believed he was a super-star in the NBA even after that and behaved like a Diva.

Good player? Sure. Fun to watch? You bet. Super-star - not even close. Let's face it, Batum was a better overall player than Rudy was and will likely continue to get better with time - Rudy was fun to watch and all the girls went weak in the knees - but a star in the NBA he never was.

He just doesn't have the body for the NBA. He has the athleticism, and the shot, but his body can not take the physical beating that the NBA will dole out on any given night. He found that out the hard way and it completely changed his game. He went from a dare devil in his rookie season to someone that just camped on the outside and was afraid to go to the hole.

It was not just the body - it was the relative lack of handle compared to someone like Manu who is not much heavier than him. The difference is that Manu can handle the ball much better than Rudy - and thus can thrive in places Rudy never could. Manu is a lot less of a Diva as well.

<pet peeve> Rudy could jump, he was not "athletic." Athletic, to me has more to do with quickness. </end peeve>
Indeed, that was his problem, he couldn't go around his man, and he wasn't a good 1 on 1 defender. Basically, he couldn't move his feet quickly.

As for Claver, we'll see. We know he can jump...

I think quickness is just a part of athleticism, as is jumping ability.

"Athleticism" in the field of NBA prognostication is most commonly used as a synonym for "jumping ability", and by saying Rudy is athletic, you seemed to be using it in the same way.

The point relevant to this thread is that VC certainly has jumping ability. If he is to be more than a role player, he will also need quickness. I look forward to seeing how he does.

I mean, if we want to get all vague, they're all "athletic" because they're professional athletes

But I see your point. I guess I'm just saying that you can be athletic in different ways. You could be a jumper, you could be a runner. They aren't mutually exclusive either. You could always say "he's an athletic jumper" or he's an "athletic runner" but that could get tedious.

They're different parts. I think they may even be different kinds of cells. I've known people who can get up to a very high speed but can't change direction fast at all. There are also people who can jump high but aren't quick. Telfair is quick but can't jump. Outlaw could jump but wasn't quick.

But that's my point.... you can be considered "athletic" and only be a good jumper, or only be a good sprinter. Very few people are good at all facets of athletic ability. But anyway, I digress. We're getting sidetracked here and I think how one defines "athleticism" is completely subjective.

and getting sidetracked on athleticism isn't a Claver idea :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

(I just never seem to get tired of that joke)
