The "long runway" bit makes me wonder exactly how long till he thinks we are really ready to contend?

Hey, will you trade us your star player for three role player getting picks? No?

I don't think that is necessarily what he meant. I didn't take it as him talking about when we are ready to contend, but rather how long the potential for the contention window to stay open is. Unlike teams who's star players are 28+ years of age,

Our "big 3" will enter next season with an average age of 25 years old. Nurk 23, Dame 27. McCollum 26.

Maybe it would be a good idea to read the article before trying hard to sound smart? It clearly says to trade picks for getting veterans/impact players or hope to find potential stars in the draft.
Just quoting the Blazer employee

He has some assets. But he had plenty of resources and assets over the years he has allowed to go to waste and fail to use. That, and I'm still not buying that he has the competence needed to do what he needs to do to make this team a contender. All hot air. All smoke and mirrors. One decent trade in Nurkic doesn't change this.

"Don't you have that feeling of Deja Vu, Blazer fans? Crashing out of the first round is so much fun. Let's stay young forever and ever and ever!"

Well I would be worried if he said he thought we could already compete for the championship next season. The moves we should be doing from now should be with a view to compete once Warriors/Cavaliers window is at least slightly down.
