<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>There are no excuses, <u>Vince Carter</u> said yesterday. Despite an injured right thumb and the tweaks to the Nets' offense, Carter would not use either as a reason for his slow start this season.

"My game is gonna come," Carter said yesterday. "I just have to stay in attack mode and do what I need to do on the defensive end, and things will take care of themselves."

Carter is hoping it will come tonight as the Nets (2-1) host the Hawks (1-1), beginning a stretch of six out of the next seven games at the Meadowlands.

Carter revealed that he had a jammed thumb on his shooting hand after the Nets' win in Philadelphia Saturday night. He practiced yesterday with light tape on the thumb and around his wrist.

"It's fine. I wouldn't have been out here shooting if it wasn't," Carter said abruptly. "I put my time in (on Sunday) to make it feel better. It's fine."</div></p>

2 things:</p>

</p>

Carter always does well against the Hawks.</p>

</p>

Carter's bound to break out sooner or later. This will probably be the game.</p>

</p>

Oh yeah, and it'd be nice to see Sean this game. Someone to match ATL's bigs.</p>

Hawks want to run. They have Horford as the only guy I can see running up and down. Williams is a 3. I'd say run with RJ at the 4, interchanging Boki and Wright.</p>

Love to hear something like this from Vince...this is the type of thing you'd want to hear from a player.</p>

Hopefully, he'll get off that "slow start" tonight.</p>
