Rio Grande Valley Vipers General Manager Gianluca Pascucci today announced that the team has acquired forward/center Kenny Kadji.
Kadji (6-10, 242, Miami (FL)) most recently played internationally with the New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig in Braunschweig, Germany. He averaged 6.2 ppg and 3.6 rpg in five games with the Phantoms.
Previously this year, Kadji was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers Summer League and training camp rosters. During Summer League, Kadji averaged 5.6 ppg and 4.6 rpg, and during the preseason, he averaged 5 ppg and 1.71 rpg.
Kadji played two seasons at the University of Miami (FL) from 2010-13. He redshirted the 2010-11 season after transferring from the University of Florida, where he played from 2008-10.
As a member of the Miami Hurricanes, Kadji averaged 12.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 28.3 minutes in 68 total games. He made 47.9 percent (305-of-637) shots from the field, which placed him ninth in Miami's record book. He also shot 37.3 percent (75-of-201) from 3-point range. As a senior, Kadji ranked nationally in double-doubles (97), blocked shots per game (168) and rebounds per game (222).
As a member of the Florida Gators, Kadji played in 42 games over two seasons, where he averaged 12.3 ppg and 6 rpg.
The Vipers host the Austin Toros tonight at 7 p.m. (CT) at State Farm Arena.
