Wade Baldwin’s Future as a Blazer...

We've been over this in this thread and in others. First of all, he doesn't have an option. If he is still on the team on the 19th his contract is guaranteed so no action is needed. Second of all, we don't have his full bird rights so we can't extend/re-sign him until he becomes a free agent next summer.

Cool.

Thanks for being pedantic.

I aim so totally sold on Baldwin, Trent, and Simons
Me too. I had the same feeling when I first saw Aldridge, Lillard and CJ play. Sometimes, the gut is correct.

I don't know about Trent.... seems like a chucker a bit.

But how many really bad shots have you seen him take? IMHO, Crabbe failed because he wasn't aggressive enough. I really don't recall seeing many bad shots by Trent. And I loved that block he had last night. Not bad for a guy who isn't athletic.

He seems more confident than Crabbe, for sure. That was one thing I never really liked about Crabbe. He never looked confident, which doesn't make sense to me. Shooting guards should be one of the most confident players on the floor. He always looked like he was unsure if he belonged. How does a guy get PAC12 Player of the Year and not have confidence?

I think Trent also hasn't gotten as many chances to play with Baldwin, so he has had to create his own shot.

My understanding is he was a jerk at Memphis. Good to know that's being taken care of.

Probably isn’t easy being around passive aggressive dickwads like Gasol.

But at least he took responsibility.

Actually, he probably got to Memphis and was like, "you're paying Mike Conley HOW MUCH money???"

And then he got to Portland and Dame showed him what a real point guard looks like.

Last year, 24.1% of Baldwin's possessions were isolations. The next highest was Lillard at 15.8%. Baldwin scored on 57.1% of these isolations. Portland's next two best were Lillard (49.3%) and McCollum (46.3%)
Where do you find this stuff?

The deadline is July 18 (tomorrow) to guarantee his contract. Is there any way that doesn't happen?

I don't think so. I think he has played well enough that we need to keep him.

Maybe that had something to do with him pressing last night?

He needs to have a better game in the championship game tonight.

I'll not be happy if we lose him as another cap casualty (like Ed Davis was). So is it true that Portland will not be able to resign him next year because we have no bird rights? His defense on Harden in that game last year was legendary. He had Harden so pissed off.

Link? Does "took responsibility" mean that he admitted he was wrong and they were right? If not, what does it mean? If so, why do you blame his teammates?

We have early bird rights, which means were limited to signing him for around the league average salary ($7M ish, I believe).
