Maybe it's me just being an old fart, but that was crap.

It made me laugh.

Musically, there's no hook though.

It did make me wish I could drop this video into the 1950s (color TV came out in the early '50s, so sometime after that). Fainting couches would get a lot of use.

You don't have to go back to the 1950's for that to happen though. You could show this to most people today, give them a sheet with the lyrics and they'd be dropping like flies, and be offended by it.

Which is funny, because it's not crap because the lyrics are offensive or the video itself is suggestive, it's crap because it's not creative or catchy or subtle.

It's like a Jerry Springer episode put to music.

Juice,

I see you are a singer songwriter. Cant beleive I didnt catch that previously and hound you. lol.

curious, what type of music? Why do I want to say either some groovey funky jazz type stuff, or classical? Put me in my place if im off base. :)

Anyhow, for the video, IT is very basic, no hook very jerky and not smooth.

But im not sure it didnt hit its mark with its intent?

The one thing I noticed and respected was her linguist style. She is quick worded and the cadence in some of the lines really got m as being creative and tight.

With that said, the only reason I would watch or listen to it again is for the same reason Sly posted it in the first place.

For whatever reason she is sexy in her own way. Dont tell me you dont wanna smack dat ass like sly does.

Yall are dogs! HAHA

Actually this is what Sly puts on the radio for a nice Sunday evening romantic womp womp!

This is what gets the girlies in the mood!

It was a joke based on my childhood, as I liked to riff on song lyrics and was good at adlibbing.

I can't carry a tune in a bucket to save my life though.

Her cadence is very impressive, but the content of the song doesn't impress me. It's basically coming up with a fancy way of saying her pussy is wet, and she likes big dicks.

But not in a subtle way in the least. I'm not saying she's not talented, but it's kind of like Andrew Dice Clay, it's not really on par with some of the better stuff of her day or any day.

Awee man,m so you are an imposter!!! HAHA.

Good comparison to ADC. Saw him once in person when the Jim Rose cirucs opened for them.

Was a weird night for sure. And how the crowd cheered at him smoking a cigarette from behind his head? I was like That is just stupid and people go nuts for it?

Gimmicks are only momentary. They are both this.

Thats the folly of todays "internet sensation" fame. It's no longer about actual talent, but how many hits you can get, how much of a "noise" you can make, and if you're trending. Again, not dismissing her talent, just that I'm not sure that people will be listening to these songs in 10, 20 and 30 years and going "woah, that was arguably one of the better songs of all time".

Look at songs that the Stones, Beatles, The Who, Beach Boys, Temptations, Supremes, Four tops, Duran Duran, Van Halen, AC/DC, Rush, Led Zeppelin, etc...those songs are listened to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and in some cases, 60 years later and STILL good.

There's a reason why no one cares about Psy anymore, or no one cares (really) about 2 live crew, or the Fat Boys, or some of the 'internet sensations" of a year (or more) ago. It's a flash in the pan type music.

No one, I repeat, no one will compare Cardi B to the Beatles, or John Lennon, Paul McCartney, or Elton John, or Lionel Richie, or Eta James.

Actually, better way to go with it. Remember Skrillex?

This kind of music, music video, is the current incarnation of Skrillex.

oh, 100% agree. Its just the latest new flavor. But just like Coke... the classics are always the best.

I agree, to a degree. There are plenty of current artists who are really good. And there were plenty of crappy artists/one hit wonders/manufactured groups back in the day. The Archies, for example, are probably a good version of a "internet sensation" group.

There are plenty of songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's, that were huge hits in the day but really didn't hold up to well. I don't have any examples off the top of my head (not because there aren't any, but because I just don't feel like digging into this rabbit hole more than I already have).

Can you imagine if those were mainstream releases?

I watched my first color TV in about 1958 or maybe 1957 at rich old lady's house in Dunthorpe. My mother was her personal nurse and got me the opportunity to see it. I did not enjoy it because the color was bad and I had to be quiet as a church mouse. No way to treat a little boy.
Saw my first TV in about 1950. It had a tiny round picture tube. My mom and I went with my father to watch a boxing match and commercials by Hamms. Gillette, Old Spice and whatever else. Again, a boxing match is no way for a tiny tot to enjoy the evening with a bunch of grown ups, aka grups.

Not my favorite by either of them (musically). To be fair though, I'm not a huge Cardi B fan. Her voice grates on me. And this isn't a female vs male thing for me. I feel the same way about several male rappers as well. With hip hop, the voice is the lead instrument, and i guess I'm particular about timbre. Now Megan Thee Stallion, i love. Her songs are absolute bangers and she has a nice flow. Girls In the Hood is my current favorite song to put a little energy into my work commute. Haha

Also, not going to comment on the sexual nature. It's not my place to say anything. They are artists. They are musicians. They are writers. It is their prerogative to sing about anything they damned well please.

Or I could be like Ben Shapiro who is afraid of the "p word" because he has never given a girl pleasure in his miserable life. Haha. He seems like the kind of guy that would have hard time saying the word, vagina.
