I've noticed a lot of birds being super aggressive around my property...more than before...even saw one fighting a chipmunk yesterday...the wildlife apocalypse is just around the corner!

I think they’re getting bigger too. The golden eagles out here are starting to look like fucking pterodactyls. We’ll be out in the middle of nowhere surveying and be like “why is there a dude in a black hoodie standing on top of that hill in February?”

Just a giant fucking superbird is all, no biggie.

I’ve seen them pick ducks out of ponds more than once.

but I spent 4 years in Alaska and I'll say there's really not anything like being about 50 yards from a full grown Grizzly bear. That happened to me twice and I still have the stains in my underwear. Also, my wife and I got false-charged by a moose in the Payette forest of Idaho...that got the adrenaline roaring

yeah one time I was fishing with about 4 other guys. We were lined up on one side of the stream, and the bears were in the water a ways on the other side of the stream...about 6 of them spaced out about 60-70 apart. It was a broad stream/river, but it wasn't deep enough to stop a bear from charging across. They just didn't seem to care as long as we didn't bother them or challenge for fish. They were more concerned with each other

but another time a buddy and I were hiking in SE Alaska, came around a bend and startled a huge boar grizzly (not a good thing to do) about 50 yards away, maybe even less. He hopped and huffed and almost looked like he was thinking of charging, but then ambled into the bush. We were both scared shitless. That was close enough to realize he was the size of a van. Close enough to feel the scale of the beast. We turned around and made quick time back to out rig, went home, and drank

Why are Trump and Olshey allowing giant Asian hornets from China to take over our country? Do we need tariffs?

I didn't care until I read this article about Blaine and realized the problem is centered in my county. Blaine is on the Canadian border, 20 minutes north of Bellingham. 35 years ago, I knew a Bellingham beekeeper. He has probably suffered a gruesome death by now.

I agree with you, done in a lab.

Though sometimes doing these things helps us develop vaccines and antiviruses.

To me, all life is precious, however there is a line(somewhat gray/grey) on which animals are more important based on their numbers on the planet.

Meaning, I would have a MUCH bigger issue with this if they were testing... bald eagles, lets say. But mice are in nooooo danger of leaving this planet.

The only thing I hope they do, but understand they may not be able to because it might affect their testing, is to give the animals shots so they don't feel the pain.


I suppose the moral question is, do we have the right to kill animals for testing to help protect our way of life? That's a hard, hard question and can be very personal for many people based on their beliefs and love, or hate, of life.

Its one I grapple with and probably will until my death. Is all life equal and if so, do we have any right at all to purposely kill anything?

I had a large nest of bald faced hornets right above the two rocking chairs on my porch where I sit and drink beer. They are pretty mean-looking bastards. I fully intended to destroy the nest and get rid of them, but they caused so little problems that I said screw it. They flew in and out all day long and never bothered anybody. They kind of became my little buddies and they even fucked up any wasps or yellow jackets that came near the house.
