An interesting read IMO, wonder what you guys think:
Why Destroying Khamenei's Regime is Critical for the US — No Less Than for Israel
Okay, I went deep today. Feel free to skip to the summary at the end, or read — but my complaint box is already full, so just decide and that's it. No whining.
So why? Why was total destruction so important for the US? Because this was the missing piece in Trump's puzzle. Anyone who thinks Trump is an irresponsible leader who shoots from the hip and is some kind of thug simply doesn't grasp his genius. Trump almost never does anything "by accident." Even when he seems to just throw something out there "as a joke," he doesn't.
With Trump the pattern is much simpler — and as someone who's always looking for behavioral patterns, you know I've already found them. One of them is that Trump loves to test his audience. He throws something out as a half-joke, "half just thought of it right now" — but nothing could be further from the truth.
He always thought about it beforehand and already planned it. Anyone who listened to Trump's "offhand remarks" about coins and stocks made money along the way. And when everyone around me said Trump was talking nonsense when he hinted at adding Canada to the US, and that he really went overboard with the Greenland thing — I looked for the reason, because he doesn't just throw these things out there.
If you go back to my previous posts you'll see I wrote that the reason is partly — but not only — natural resources. The real reason behind Venezuela, Greenland, and now Iran, was and remains one thing:
Weakening the Russia–China–Iran alliance.
How Does It Work? Oil and Movement.
China grows stronger every day as a commercial power — but not only that. With the money China makes, it's expanding its military at a dizzying rate day by day.
China was able to do this for many reasons, but mainly because it bought its oil cheap. And oil, as we already know, drives all industries.
The Strait of Hormuz
36 kilometers between Iran, Oman, and the UAE. Around 20–21 million barrels of oil pass through there every day — 20% of the world's entire oil supply.
That volume passing through the Hormuz Strait comes from Iraq, Iran, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
The Saudis Get Screwed Here Too
If Iran blocks the Strait of Hormuz, the damage is significant. The biggest losers would be the Saudis (if you were wondering about the real reason they suddenly offered to help us… it wasn't because Trump danced with them holding a golden orb and wiped hummus last year…). And yes, it's also because since 2022 they've fallen to second place due to the Russians selling cheaper… and nobody really likes being in second place.
So blocking Hormuz means the Saudis would lose even that second place ranking and wouldn't be able to sell — they'd effectively be the first ones hurt. (A "first place"

nobody wants to be in.)
India
But wait — let's talk about who needs this oil most of all and is most dependent on it: the Indians. Why? Because they love buying oil from Saudi Arabia, and they (as everyone knows, the Indians are champion negotiators — genuinely, it's exhausting how good they are at it…) got a great price. Most of their oil comes from there.
You might say: "So what, they'll just have less oil for their cars… no big deal." But that's not quite right. Their industry is enormous and needs oil, and their entire economy — which isn't in great shape anyway — would take a massive hit when oil prices rise.
The Cream on the Cake — China
And now we get to the cream (because the other buyers of Iranian oil aren't really relevant to this post) — and our cream, or cherry on top, is C h i n a...
China imports 10 million barrels per day (it produces about 4 million itself), and almost half of those 10 million come through the Hormuz Strait.
Russia
Let's look at who sells to China:
- 20% from Russia — about 2 million barrels per day.
If the Russians lose this too, it's a serious blow to Russia, which is already dealing with sanctions. Losing this on top of that is like waking up on an especially cold freezing morning and discovering the car heater is also gone.
Who else sells to China?
- 35% from Iraq, Kuwait, and Oman
- Saudi Arabia sells 16%
- 10% from UAE and Kazakhstan
Do the math and you get 81% — all from countries that can't sell if the strait is closed. The rest comes from places like Malaysia, Angola, and Brazil. (Malaysia is also affected by a Hormuz blockade.)
Control
Let's pause for a second because I think everyone is starting to see the picture.
Control. Control. Control.
If America becomes the crowd favorite in the Middle East because it removes the bad guy and saves Iranians from a dictatorial regime — the new leadership will forever (let's say…) be grateful to the Americans.
And now in realistic terms — the Americans will have (for better or worse) a clear say over who's allowed to sell and, most importantly, at what price.
And guess who will be the regional enforcer?
Israel
— or at least the oversight will operate from our region. And if I'm reading the map correctly — we'll also get cheaper oil. Not super cheap, but significantly cheaper than today.
So —
control. Great, but why does this matter so much? Because in one move, Trump solved two problems for himself — maybe even three.
"Thanks Honey, We're Obsessed With You…"
So what will happen?
The Russians won't be able to buy cheap oil, and even if they can, they'll have to buy in dollars and say a polite "thank you" to Trump. And most importantly — when America gets angry, it will close Hormuz.

Control.

The Triple Alliance
The triple alliance (Russia–China–Iran) — and in the BRICS version: Russia–China–Iran–Brazil — has been completely weakened by Trump's recent moves. This isn't just economic, it's not just oil, it's also military. But that's a long post for another time.
Venezuela
Let's go back to Greenland and Venezuela. Maduro, who was deep in bed with the Ayatollahs, is currently sitting in an American prison not understanding how it happened to him.
Maduro was the opening of Trump's hunting season. It wouldn't have been surprising if he'd announced it himself — I'm willing to bet the thought amused him — but he kept quiet. He didn't even tell JD Vance (honestly, I'm not totally sold on him either), but Vance didn't stutter and supported the claim that there was no time to consult Congress, and that he actually did know about the operation… Fine. Sure.
Trump was at his private estate, managing the entire Maduro operation from Palm Beach.
The corruption in Venezuela was so insane that citizens — just like now in Iran — were singing "Trump is King" to a football chant on the streets.
America's Backyard
The corruption in Venezuela also did great business — in the billions — with China, Iran, and Russia. And all of this — as Marco Rubio (the cute one with the Dumbo ears, who I think will also be the next president) says: "Not acceptable, and certainly not in our backyard!!"
In a brilliant move, the US snatched Maduro in the middle of the night with a blue hoodie, under the pretext of "yeah but he's a drug trafficker…" and various other charges. Don't think those aren't true — they are — but it was just an excuse. The real need was to neutralize him and his business dealings with China and Russia, including daily maritime oil tanker transfers. Or as Rubio puts it: "Not in our backyard!"
Create Scarcity and Everyone Will Need You
Trump wants everyone to need him — every country in the world. That's clear. Other American presidents wanted that too, but most of them were lazy and cowardly.
Most of those presidents, sad to say, simply took orders that came with enormous checks, one way or another.
- America wanted to strengthen the dollar? It wanted the whole world to keep using the dollar for oil trade (the petrodollar), so it paid for that — how? By moving production to other countries, for example.
- America wanted to sell weapons to other countries? It created a war — sometimes short, sometimes long — then "helped" that country by lending it huge sums to fund its military budget, so it could buy weapons from America. Know any countries like that?
And where that didn't work, America installed its own rulers. Ones who did exactly what they were told. And that's not really "America as a separate entity" — it's the people who control America and other countries around the world (Australia, Canada, much of Europe, and also here in Israel). Okay, I got carried away into another topic, a deeper one — I'll write a separate post about it. And I'm saying upfront that I'm mentally fine, I have no suicidal thoughts… those who understand, understand.

Let's close this post already — what's left?
Greenland
Trump drilled for weeks about wanting to buy Greenland. I have a friend who lives in Denmark — "The Kingdom of Denmark" as they're formally called — who owns Greenland, though they've essentially handed governance to the local residents, who are a kind of Inuit people who self-govern with a fixed annual donation from Denmark of $600,000,000 (six hundred million dollars). It's not a huge amount of money, and Denmark isn't a particularly wealthy country, so there was no real reason (other than ego) why Denmark wouldn't agree to sell Greenland.
But the Danes immediately passed the discussion to the Greenlanders, who held a vote and decided by over 80% that no — they're perfectly fine without being American.
But Trump didn't stop pushing. He pressured hard. He pressured so much and threatened it would happen regardless, because America can't allow its rivals to take over Greenland — and if it's not going to be America's, it'll happen anyway, he said.
But who was he talking about? Which rivals? Mainly China.
A year before this story, the Chinese offered the charming Greenlanders to build them a massive airport worth several billion dollars. The Greenlanders said great, let's do it — and a deal was almost signed. At the last second, America found out, called Denmark, and told whoever was available that this was "absolutely not happening."
That was the sign for Trump that you can't trust the Danes to stand guard — you need to take Greenland.
The Real Reasons
Everyone shouted "natural resources!" etc. Fine — that's true, but the costs of extracting them are insane, so that's not really relevant right now.
What might be relevant is turning Greenland into a cooling source for AI computers, and more precisely, creating a kind of state like Praxis (Peter Thiel / Palantir) — another post for another time.
Trump flagged Greenland because of
trade routes — Greenland sits in such a central location that it would be a disaster to let anyone else manage the defense of those routes for any possible reason.
Davos, Switzerland
Then came the Davos conference in Switzerland. This is a conference that routinely gathers the biggest corrupt figures in the world to come and give speeches about the economic policies they're going to impose. But in practice these are instructions they received in advance, so it's more accurate to say it's like you read the book the teacher assigned for homework and now you're doing a book report in front of the whole class.
The puppet masters — at least some of them — sit in the audience, and some add a few words to reinforce that everyone agrees with the new nonsense that's been laid upon the world. Now let's see who manages to sell it to citizens in a way they won't notice and will eat it up and say it's fine.
Why does this matter? Because they tell us at this conference what will happen in the future — like 12 years ago when Bill Gates theoretically, of course, talked about a pandemic and vaccines. Just theoretically. Purely hypothetical. Sure.
So that's the World Economic Forum — Davos, Switzerland.
This year… the conference was a little different. They had a guest. This year there was Trump. They invited him but didn't think he'd actually come. But he came.
And Trump, as we already know, doesn't see a meter ahead. He came and spoke to them for an hour. In that hour he told them without blinking that they were scoundrels and should be ashamed of themselves. (Well, not exactly in those words.) He also told Europe to get its act together, and various other leaders received their "compliments" from him — but above all he emphasized that the failed business policies they'd been running themselves by weren't going to continue. He also spoke about the Muslims who had taken over Europe.
And more and more.
At that same conference he also sat with European leaders and had a "where are we headed" conversation about Greenland.
At the end of it all, he said they'd reached an arrangement where the US would get control over the Arctic region, and he didn't really intend to take Greenland by force. Fine. The whole world calmed down and quite a few people laughed at him for backing down.
But here's another pattern that many miss —
Trump always aims for what annoys people, but in the end takes what he actually wants. And cheaply.
Trump made the purchase of Greenland into a massive issue not just because of the aggressiveness and forcefulness with which he presented things, but because he wanted it to be the central topic. He wanted everyone focused on that — and then like a magician he would take what he actually wanted. And that was indeed full control over the Arctic region, meaning no one can wander around in his backyard.
My late father would have called this a
"sleight of hand."
There's still no report of a signed defense agreement — they're working on it. But the noise Trump made left the entire world with the certainty that any move in the region not aligned with US policy and not approved by Washington will get a harsh response. That alone creates a clear achievement.
Questions always welcome, relevant comments and additional information — welcome, always appreciated. You're also allowed to argue with each other, just don't be mean or insulting — there are enough bitter and angry people around us. Don't add yourself to that list.
Summary (as promised, for those who just want the TL;DR)
Trump doesn't act on impulse. He thinks in patterns and control.
The goal wasn't "another war" and wasn't natural resources — it was
breaking the Russia–China–Iran axis through control of oil and shipping routes (primarily Hormuz and the Arctic).
Whoever controls the passages controls the goods.Whoever controls the goods controls the price.Whoever controls the price controls economies.Whoever controls economies — controls nations.
Venezuela, Iran, and Greenland are not separate stories — they are part of the same move: weakening the Eastern alliance, returning energy control to America, and ensuring everyone needs Washington more than it needs them.
And the classic part? Make noise about what doesn't really matter — and quietly take what does.
Along the way, you get to be the hero and liberate a people or two.
Sleight of hand, White House edition.
