The Golden State Warriors have presented an ambitious plan to state and local officials to reopen Chase Center in San Francisco at 50% capacity for the upcoming NBA season, which owner Joe Lacob believes can be the model for all sports franchises and entertainment venues to safely bring back fans amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lacob said the Warriors are prepared to spend upward of $30 million to test every fan, Warriors employee and player with the most accurate form of COVID-19 testing for each home game or day they come to Chase Center.

It hinges on the use of rapid PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests or equivalent amplification technologies that can detect traces of the virus’ genetic material in nasal or throat swabs within 15 minutes and are far more accurate than rapid antigen tests, which look for a protein that is present on the surface of the virus that is shed.

This has to pass tons of gov approval. Also need 50% of people willing to spend tons of $ for this while having to wait 15 mins each at door for tests....

They sure won't - if you think a sports venue in SAN FRANCISCO of all places will get approval for in-person fans before somewhere else in the country, you haven't been paying attention.

At least they are trying. I admire their exploration into this idea. The League's well being is at stake in a time where, yes, the vaccine is coming along, but it isn't a home run yet. And since the vaccine requires extreme transportation measures to keep it from spoiling, how do we really know how many will be vaccinated when it does arrive. It could take a couple years to get everyone vaccinated. So desperate times need desperate measures.

Yeah but it is her district and she does comment on everything else Covid related, so I am going to assume that she will comment on this too. Unless of course, she wants to be a complete hypocrite.
