Was Dunleavy fired over the Camby trade?

Saw this interesting tidbit in a recap of last night's game . . .

Camby's work ethic and leadership were among the season's few sources of warmth for the Clippers, and the veteran got a warm reception from Clippers fans before the game. General manager Mike Dunleavy traded him to Portland on Feb. 16 in a deal generally thought to be remarkably one-sided for the Blazers. Dunleavy was fired three weeks later.

In Don Sterling's world, money talks. The deal didn't cost him any money, so I can't see why he would care. If the Clips had had a chance to make the play-offs, and generate some extra income, it might have been different.

Yeah I thought the word was the Camby trade was to try and save his job. At least that's what my buddy the Clipps fan said.

If anything, it was the sort of move Dunleavy would do because the owner tells him to do it. My completely un-sourced speculation is that Dunleavy stews, gets pissed off watching Camby give a damn (unlike the rest of the team) in Portland, tells The Donald to fuck off, and next thing you know he's unemployed. Three weeks is just about the right amount of time for that to happen.

It's pretty obvious Dunleavy is still a Blazers fan along with other former Blazers like Steve Kerr and Danny Ainge.

Pritchard has it so easy with other people doing his job for him.

In Kaman Griffin and Jordan, the Clips do have some frontcourt talent under contract... two of which are centers. The trade gave them a chance to give DeAndre a look and save a few bucks. With or without Camby, they weren't going anywhere this season.

I see Sterling as one of those guys that can't make up his mind. He seems like the owner that says, "Quit spending money!" and then wonders why they aren't winning more. Of course this is simply my speculation from years of Clipper futility.
