I honestly don't understand how people listen to this guy talk and actually respect him and like him. It just absolutely boggles my mind. He's so crass and trashy. He has zero decorum. I was raised Republican and I just do not get it. He is the antithesis of Reagan or Bush Sr.
 
It's Summer Restaurant Week in DC. Normally restaurants would be packed to the rafters. Reservations are down by a third over last year. People don't want to come to occupied city.

I’m of two minds on this:

First, yeah it can seem incomprehensible that people would project on this vulgarian all their pent up hopes and dreams. But when you’re so sure, so absolutely certain you are correct and the rest of the world has gone mad, you’ll see someone who looks straight at you and say “You’re right. About everything. I’ll show you if you just vote for me.” you’ll do anything he says, because he said the magic words.

On the other hand: lol, imagine thinking a 2025 F1 McLaren is the antithesis of a 1984 F1 McLaren, fucking lmao.

Reagan did exactly this same pandering. He was just less obvious. And maybe that’s the part you’re uncomfortable with. Hopefully you’re also uncomfortable with the things he thinks his supporters are right about: white genocide, great replacement theory, black inferiority, female inferiority, the correctness of heterosexuality, supremacy of white over all, dominion of men over all… but I know conservatives; these traditional family values don’t go away without work.
 
White evangelical Christians consider themselves a persecuted minority., under attack by secularism, gays, feminists etc. Trump is their protector. It doesn't matter what he says or does.
 
I hope, while Gavin is tap dancing and distracting the conservatives, that the rest of the democrats are doing some serious backchannel deals with the military and each other to have a response when Trump decides to actually tighten the fist on DC and LA.

I never thought the movie Civil War was realistic.... but who even knows anymore.
 
We have less democracy than six months ago. American democracy has not been in greater danger since Civil War. But to throw in the towel and say democracy is gone is giving Trump what he wants.

I went to a protest Saturday. Police presence was minimal, about what you'd see at a 10K. Trump might want to mow down protesters like Tienanmen Square but so far he can't. I have an Indivisible meeting tonight. It will happen. If feds want to listen in, well, not the first time in my life.

Alaskans protested outside the Trump Putin grovel.

CBS and ABC paid millions to settle frivolous lawsuits they would have won because they were scared of Trump. New York Times continues to sanewash. But we still have the Atlantic and the Guardian and Rachel Maddow and yes, South Park.

Republicans tie themselves in knots proclaiming positions the opposite of what they said 6 months ago. Democratic leadership writes letters and won't endorse their own candidate for New York Mayor. But we also have Jasmine Crockett and Chris Murphy and JB Ptitzker and Tammy Duckworth and now Nicole Collier.

Gavin Newsom has not fallen out a window.

If anyone wants my rights they have to fucking come and take them. I am not giving them away. No matter how much my feet hurt.
 
We're getting close to a point where only an Article V constitutional convention could save us, but the bad that could come from that is as frightening as what Trump's trying.

Trump with another made up "oh sir" story, Democrats calling him a up to say oh sir my family was able to go out to dinner in DC for first time in four years. Restaurants show one third drop in reservations since military occupation.

Can't do secret deals when Trump runs Homeland Security and all the "wiretaps", etc...
 
Department of Injustice is "investigating" DC police department, claiming without evidence they altered crime statistics to make it look like crime was down in the city.

Unsurprisingly, Trump lied about truck crash that killed people in DC. Said driver was undocumented immigrant given driver's license by sanctuary state California. Suspect has federal work permit so is not undocumented. California allows undocumented people to get licences only for personal, not commercial, vehicles.

Who needs facts when you have hate?
 
JD Vance, back from eighth vacation in seven months (not a bad gig), joined DUI hire and Nazi to yell at protesters in DC while claiming Shake Shack in Union Station is now safe because of Trump. Union Station is one of lowest crime areas of DC.
 
Armed soldiers in DC subway looking for fare evaders. They do have transit cops in DC. Government efficiency!
