Shaq and Olajuwon were greater. David Robinson was arguably greater.

If you had any arguments illustrating why it's stupid, I'd take your opinion seriously.

Exhibit A- Injury prone
Exhibit B - Foul prone
Exhibit C - Zero Offensive game
Exhibit D - Attitude issues (pouting)

Guilty as charged.

He also looks like a 40 year old man. No wonder his body is breaking down:biglaugh:

Hank c'mon usually you put up a better fight than this. its a Bynum thread compared to Oden.. Injury prone applies to both. And for how you were using "Quicksand" to back your arguments yesterday, you are not using that same Behind the Locker room article on how Oden has improved and is more personable. :tsktsk:

Exhibit A- Injury prone

Lots of players have suffered a few injuries early in their carers without being derailed. I did note that injuries are the potential downside for Oden.

Exhibit B - Foul prone

Yes, that's been his weakness this season. If you're saying Oden isn't Tim Duncan right now, you've done a magnificent job disproving an argument no one has made.

Exhibit C - Zero Offensive game

Almost all the NBA head coaches disagree with you, since they double-team him consistently. Considering that double-teams in the post open up shooters on the perimeter, and Portland thrives on open shots, this isn't something any non-insane coach would have his defense do unless he considered it necessary.

Exhibit D - Attitude issues (pouting)

Translation: "I can't think of anything else, I give up."

Guilty as charged.

I had hoped you'd actually provide a challenging opposing viewpoint.

Oden has improved this season - from D league scrub to average nba bench player.

I just don't see what the hype is.. never have. There are a handful of Center prospects like Oden every couple of years.. some of them turn into decent players - some don't.

Oden is far from a sure thing.

Nonsense. NBA teams have styles .. some teams double on the post and some do not. It's a philosophy - not an individual game plan only for Oden.

Learn the game.

1. No team has a "leave shooters open via complete unnecessary double-teams" philosophy
2. Almost every team double-teams Oden (Phoenix is a notable exception because Shaq is large enough that Oden can't overwhelm him physically)

Bynum brings to mind Rodney Rogers, a finesse player in a banger's body, highly skilled and mobile, but strangely invisible much of the time...

You're wrong. Sorry.

Some teams double the post - others do not. Oden is not special...no matter how much you guys want to close your eyes and wish that he was.

Yeah.. highly skilled and mobile are terrible traits in an NBA big man.

I'd much rather have a raw, clumbsy big man any day.

I'm afraid not. Some coaches double-team post players who are disruptive against man defense, other coaches don't consider it worth the damage that a double-team does to their team defense. No coach consistently double-teams players who aren't an offensive threat.

Heh... this is kind of cute. You're like MIXUM but no where near as good.

There are a handful of prospects (not just center prospects) like Oden... every decade.
