At VL1, 22? N, the afternoon, maximum, summer temperatures reaching a peak of only -12? F, (-25? C). The minimum temperature is -128? F, (-89? C), just prior to sunrise: this is the sub-tropics, during summer!

Kind of hard to grow them vegetables for ET! Unless he subsisted on mars rocks.

thanks for the data. well as we know it- water is the primary prerequisite for life, hence the question. nevertheless, maybe e.t. wouldn't need water or mild temperatures to survive.

I think they had theories that there might be water frozen underground near the poles. It will be hard to substantiate any of those theories until they get a spaceship up there with a oil rig quality drill.

I actually own two copies of that movie, one I bought for $2 because I hadn't seen it and $2 is less than a rental. The second copy my uncle gave me.

I've only watched it once, its a 3+ hour movie.

I think people think of life in terms of what we have to recognize here on earth. But there could be other forms of life that aren't anything like humans or animals or bacteria that we are used to. There fore maybe they don't need warm temperatures or water or air or anything for that matter. Think outside the box.

Still yet to be confirmed, but that is good news none-the-less. Brings up good chances that when they lauch for Moon colonization in 2024 they will eventually move on to Mars in hopes for even more adaptability. In case none of you heard about the Moon launch for 2020 I suggest doing a search because that is going to be huge in 2015 when they're ready for astronaut testing the next five years.
