Well, I know the love fest after 9/11 ended when people started accusing anyone who didn't agree with them with "hating the troops".

again. Its not about pointing fingers of the past. Its about moving forward for the future.

or should i just consider this thread a test case on how quickly we can create a divide within an attempt to bring people together? ;)

Those who don't know the past, are doomed to repeat it.

That's part of the reason why many people don't just let people gloss over stupid shit anymore.

I totally get what your point is, but you can put a pig in a tuxedo, and it's still a pig. Until we decide to deal with what divides us (and admit it), we'll never get over it. I wish we could, but it's like deal with an addict who doesn't admit they're one.

I deal with an addict every day.

Again. This thread doesnt have anything to do with ignoring anything.
Nothing will ever be perfect in this world and if we dont ease up once in a while until it is, we will never ease up.
This isnt about forgetting. This is about setting aside to take a breath. Refresh with positive energy Nd then head back out into the battlefield.
All soldiers need to be pulled off the front lines for some rnr. Us citizens and our daily stresses are no different.
Your wish can easily be a reality with some discipline.

Problem solvers do have positive outlook. That's why they think problems can be solved. But don't ignore them. I absolutely hated the song Don't Worry Be Happy.

This is the exact right thread. You asked why it doesn't happen anymore. Why aren't people getting together singing songs.

I challenged you to find a conservative who's making togetherness songs like the OP mentioned.

You only came up with you.

My example is why you'll never see that kind of music out of mainstream conservatives. Were they even involved in "We are the world"?

When Conservatives say racist shit, they're literally praised for it and it increases their record sales... I know it's ugly, but it's a reason why...

I wasn't asking for focus on the music as to when it was made, but focusing on the message and why we arent or seemingly arent as positive anymore. Everyone full of angst. Some lady yelled at me from her car behind me yesterday when we came up to a red light because i refused to go more than five over the speed limit when she ran right up on my ass.
she was raging on me. I was proud of myself as all i said was “im sorry im not going to break the law for you”.

Kinda ruined my day though, because her negativity got to me.


ill edit the op. This is not a political thread. This is not a finger pointing thread. Its a thread for people to take a breath of fresh air and just enjoy some positivity for a moment.
There are plenty of political threads here.

I apologize if i was unclear, but this was not intended to be political of any kind.

This os simply about positive energy and how we could use more of it at times in our lives.
 
I do understand OB's wanting to catch our breath. I listen to classical music when news is just too much for me.
But once your breath is caught ... go fix what is wrong with the world.

Hey, when those songs were written, there was no Portland Trail Blazers! What an awful world!

Ah yes, no one has been able to explain to me how legalizing same sex marriage has any effect on my heterosexual marriage. In other words how does it damage any heterosexual marriage. I only see it as strengthening character and I'm all for that given this sometimes all fucked up world we live in. Yes, I've voted for it every time and I will always vote for it every time and not just for reasons of the heart, although that ought to be enough, but for reasons of pure logic.
