We have the pick, now what?

I think the #12 & Freeland could probably be moved to Phoenix for Gortat and Frye.

If Frye has to retire then they moved Gortat for the #12 (and took on $6M in contracts), but if Frye doesn't have to retire then we absorb 4M for two years in Frye's contract (over Freeland) and give up the #12 for one year of Gortat. It would be a gamble that we'd be competitive next year and our guys would get better w/that experience. Damian needs a good pick n roll big and we need post D, Gortat can provide both in spades and hopefully teach some of those skills to Meyers.

I think that we could then sign a 2/3 to come off the bench and provide shooting and defense and be pretty competitive. Martell Webster would make some sense to me.

Lillard (28) /Maynor (20)
Matthews (30)/ Lillard (10)/ Webster (8)
Batum (34) / Webster (14)
Aldridge (36) / Frye (12)
Gortat (30) / Frye (8) / Leonard (10)

That is a young, but very competitive team IMO. I think we're a sure fire playoff team and a lot of the young guys would get great experience.

Pretty OT here, but is Frye pretty much down for the count, or is there still a chance he'll really come back and play another season? I sorta assumed that he was done for.

We don't have enough cap space to trade Freeland for Frye and Gortat, and then also sign Webster to a market-value contract.

Interesting idea to trade #12 pick and Freeland for PHX's Gortat and Frye. Seems to work using our available cap space. We could also then sign Maynor to $3M small exception deal. But no other major free agents. Just minimum contracts.

Lillard - Maynor
Matthews - Barton
Batum - Claver
Aldridge - Frye
Gortat - Leonard To me this would be a successful summer of activity. It doesn't solve all the needs, but it does solidify the starters.

Where does this roster take us?

I don't think it really gets us anywhere long term, and for next season, 6, 7 seed at best? All we've done is swap Gortat for Hickson, which I like, but not enough off an offseason. I don't think to get Gortat in the last year of his deal, it should take a lotto pick AND taking on Frye.

12th pick, cap space, Wes Matthews for Larry Sanders, Monta Ellis and Drew Gooden.

I doubt they'd move Sanders for that.

Me too.

Throw in Meyers and we may get their attention...

I think offloading Drew Gooden would be nice for them, though.

Maybe 1st round and out?

Use the pick, I think they can get a good player at #12.....
