keep in mind Hawes is only 25 or 26 I believe and is a PNW guy, if we could sign him after this yr for a reasonable deal he and RoLo with be a great C tandem IMO

You know this is a good point. I actually wanted to draft him that year, before we got "lucky" at the lottery.
I forgot he is that young. He seems to have been around forever. But in reality only 6 years. I change my mind. #10 in 2007 for our #10 in 2013. It would be a solid move although I would rather trade #11 in 2012 for him.

LOL at the #11 in 2012 for him!

He makes over 6 million, so it would have to be Leonard, Claver, and Freeland. Barton and Crabbe make pennies in the grand scheme of things.

But we'd only have to get within 2/3 of that 6.5M figure--4.3M. Leonard/Claver/Barton does it, although that would be the unbalanced trade to rule them all...

We need a Brandon Bass type , dude is shooting 88% from the line, two years running!

Bass isn't a bad option, but it's all a mater of cost. Does Boston want to trade him? How much would they want?

Would Phily take a package based around Leonard for Hawes? They want to suck and collect young talent and Hawes is going to be traded and realisticly he will net at best a mid to late first rounder. Is Leonard + crabbe or Barton better then a mid to late first?

What do Leonar_ and young talent have to do with each other?

Would you trade Lopez for Leonar_? If the tables were turned of course

Yes I would.

Wait, you didn't mean Raul Lopez, did you?

Well, we got Lopez for less than that this offseason. Never know how teams value a player, or how their specific team situation will alter what you might otherwise think is fair value.

Doubt they want to trade him, but he's exactly what we need, a back up banger that can come in and take fouls, as well as draw them in the low post.

A small move that would add even more punch off the bench with his outside shooting, and this works under the cap:

Claver to Toronto

Novak to Portland

Just because you hate Leonard doesn't mean everyone does. He hasn't shown great awareness of the game but his physical tools are what would interest teams. Philly would just have to believe they could turn him into something.
Also the Lopez for Leonard situation is completely different, one teams trying to tank one teams trying to win. If the Blazers were trying to tank and we had Hawes who we weren't planning on resigning then Leonard would be the type of player I wouldn't mind getting in return. Of course it wouldnt just been leonard going for Hawes there would be other young pieces being added to him as well.

You are right! They would take Leonard and Claver

But we wouldn't give em. Leonard has a higher future value than what we'd get out of Evans this year IMO, and I'd bet Neil agrees. Our best bet is to add over the summer without loosing significant assets, kinda like last.

A veteran big man off the bench. Freeland and Robinson have performed admirably, but Robinson is too raw and Freeland is too limited.

Preferably a guy with some playoff experience. That's the missing piece. Like Juwan Howard a few years ago. That kind of guy. Who's out there?

Juwan Howard.

How does this thread even get made, or continue at 17-3 record?

Because people can see a potential weakness on our team, and don't think we'll continue winning at an .850 clip, perhaps?

The bench scares me. They blew most of a 20 point lead.

i think part of it could be fixed with just altering the rotation, really. No need to have Mo, Robinson, Freeland and Wright all out there together, because you leave one guy on offense, essentially. Which is why we've seen a lot of Mo dribbling. I think Nic needs to be out there more with Mo, to be another ball handler.

I don't see how we get anybody unless someone is released which probably won't happen unless we get lucky. CJ and Leonard are the only real trade bait, but have high future value that they can't be used for a dirty mid-season trade. And can't afford to trade any more draft picks. Looks like will finish the race with what we have.

Yeah... I'd rather not playing Mo and Dame together. Have Dame stay in longer, maybe take Nic out earlier, and then play Mo with Nic while Dame rests. I'm just really not impressed with the Dame/Mo backcourt. I realize Stotts is trying to replicate what Dame had with Maynor last season, but I'm really not seeing it.
