Dame just built a brand new home/compound. If he plays another 4-5 years somewhere else, he knows he is gone for good.
Which lends credence to the thinking of him wishing we'd just be the ones to man up and trade him. The sad irony is if all of this had been kept in-house, I think a lot of better mutual outcomes could've played out -- really either way.
Clearly there's something there with Dame that I don't remember being there with Clyde (though to be fair I was a child and social media was not a thing) it's something beyond basketball and championships and individual careers, and it really seems like all parties involved are aware of and trying to preserve their part in it, which I appreciate.
I still think Dame wants to be involved in this franchise after his career, whether he forces his way out or not, and I think that window is still open, regardless of what happens this offseason, but it definitely narrows...
