When someone posts a youtube video, it shows up blank on my iPad. The only way I can watch it is to click on Reply To This Post and copy the link in the post. Then I must open a new window and paste the link. It wasn't always this way. I used to see the videos. Can this be fixed?

Use "tapatalk" you will never have that problem again

It's not the site.

Apple doesn't support flash on iPad.

Some of the iPad apps will play flash videos, like the native YouTube app (so I hear).

Steve Jobs publicly ragged on Flash because it made his computer and tablets slow and consumed battery charge at a ridiculous rate.

YouTube is HTML5 compliant now. Is there no forum software update to account for this?

But Denny, it used to be fine. My iPad showed the videos and then a year or two ago, it stopped. What changed?

Nothing changed on the site. We use AME to support video links. We haven't upgraded the plugin for years.

If you read that link I sent, youtube may have some setting on their site that disabled html5. I noticed that THEY changed things, like making you log in, showing some URLs as https:// instead of http:// and other changes.

Post a link to a thread with youtube videos that you can't play. I'll try on my iPad.

Thing is, if the little video button also showed the URL, we could watch the videos; the change to embed the videos in the posts is what makes them invisible to us.

I'm seeing the videos on my iPad now.

It was as I said, flash.

Now Google has an iframe based player, so I'm using that and it works.

Yes, flash. That is no excuse for poor mobile implementation; even android benefits from HTML5. Thank you for fixing your site's issue, if it is indeed fixed.

EDIT: everything looks great, thank you. Still need the default width of the forum to match the banner, but it's not killing me.

This Blackberry tablet is pre-installed with Flash, Adobe to read pdf files, and limited versions of Word and Excel.

2 1/2 years ago it was released at $500, but by 2 years ago I bought it new for $200.

The price came down because you fools believe that Apple propaganda! Good Canadian company, Blackberry. I feel sorry for them.

I don't think so.

When there's flash ads running on the site (for animations), I can see in Activity Monitor that flash player is consuming gobs of memory and CPU usage. Animated gifs use a very tiny fraction of the memory and CPU.

CPU use means battery drain.

So the whole time you're reading a page with flash ad on a tablet, drain drain drain.

Just started getting pop up marykay ads on here. That has never happened before!
