Tonight's starting lineup

Bayless
Rudy
Outlaw
Aldridge
Oden

Brandon is OUT tonight for rest only.

Talk of Brandon sliding to the SF and Rudy starting at SG while Webster is out. Now THAT is an exciting starting lineup.

So rare to have Portland sports infiltrate the Seattle market. Cool.....I guess!? Well, cool for you at least. God knows we get plenty of Seattle sports down here.

Well, Seattle has had everything that Portland has had, plus some. Baseball and football get crammed down Portland's throat... now that there's no NBA here? Hopefully I get to see more Blazers coverage. :)

Not to mention all the Seattle connections within the Blazers organization now. Makes sense.

Wow this is really lame. I was looking forward to Web having a breakout year. He was looking really good last night. Six to eight weeks is a lifetime when you're trying to show what you can do.

One goes down another rises. Not very good news for Martell, and his outside shooting was going to be pretty important (and damn he looked really aggressive last night), but as mentioned above this frees up more opportunities for Rudy and Travis ... Batum too I suppose?

Hope he gets well soon.

Horrible news but if it's just 8 weeks, I'm totally okay with it. Does this give way to start Rudy?

I'm not so sure. Outlaw will bump to starting SF. Rudy and Roy will cover the extra minutes, and Fry/Diogu cover the extra PF time that Outlaw would have taken.

Believe it or not, this might actually open up some extra time for Bayless, Blake and Sergio in the backcourt.

Of course, if Batum earns time, he'll get it.
Roy gives up a ton of height length and weight to the average NBA 3, Rudy even more. Of course there will be times when the other team goes small or has a smaller SF, but I'll stick by my first post in thinking that with MW out Batum gets the majority of the backup minutes at 3

A real bummer for him, but, at least, if we are going to lose a starter for parts of the season - he is the one that is easiest to replace.

Hope he recovers quickly and hopefully we will see the 3 guard lineup with either Brandon or Rudy at the 3 and maybe a bit more of Batum (who is actually a pleasant surprise so far).

Eff.

Was it a stress fracture or not? If it is, then that would imply it had been a more chronic injury than just something that occurred in the 2nd and he kept playing on.

Webster, Blake, Frye.....all our vaunted depth sure went south in a big hurry! I am tempted to turn off the TV and the computer and just go hide for the next 3 months. :shitstorm::grim::smiley-grom:

All of those guys worked very, very hard in the offseason, right? It makes you wonder if they just pushed themselves too hard...

Stress fracture, perhaps. Ankle spurs? That's more wear and tear than just one early training camp. Knee surgery? Roy had that last year. Shoulder injury? Nah. Blake's hammy? Freak.

I'm not too worried about their offseason regimen. If they weren't practicing in Portland, they'd be playing pickup ball in Dallas or L*s Ang*l*s or something.

I'm not sure they deserve praise for working particularly hard, on the one hand, and then to have their injuries dismissed since they would be "playing pickup ball", in any event.

Ankle spurs and further knee injuries would seem (to this lay person) to be helped--or at least not aggravated--by rest of the offseason, rather than continual scrimmaging and practice.
