RHP - Masahiro Tanaka (7-2, 3.00 ERA)

VS.

RHP - Lance McCullers (5-4, 3.33 ERA)

Lineups to follow............

Is that the son of Lance McCullers, one time Yankee hard throwing RH reliever they obtained from SD?

I remember him - had a good fastball and also very straight and got knocked around a bit with the Yanks.
Fast and straight down the middle, that's what we called him.

...sorry, I'll go ahead and say it...for the sake of the future hopes of this franchise, I hope Tanaka pitches well but I think the Yanx would be better off long term if they lose this game.

I'm actually very happy with what the Yankees were able to do with Chapman. They could move other pieces but I doubt they would so as well with others as they did with the Cubs. It wouldn't be a catastrophe if they proceeded and hoped their little run continued.

Like I said they were already set at the SS position (DiDi & Mateo) We needed a starter & or a SOLID future 3rd baseman.

Keep playing ball, hope for the best but keep improvement through quality trade moves a primary concern of day to day operations. Think further along than this season is akin to thinking past the end of ones nose.

I'm all for taking the best players you can get regardless. You never know about the development of these players. They could end up at third or second.

...The Chapman deal was a no brainer because the Yanx essentially gave up nothing...but I think Beltran, Gardner, & Miller could bring even more in return and help lay the groundwork for the future. I just don't realistically see them being serious championship contenders for at least another year or two anyway.

...yup, some could be converted to other positions I suppose, and it also never hurts to have a surplus of talent regardless of the position...because if those prospects excel and distinguish themselves as major league quality they can be used as bait for other acquisitions that fill other needs/holes.

I just hope Trashman can pull this all off, or will this too be beyond his reach...

This team is going nowhere fast with the Roster they have now, and yep, they've got to put guys like Gardner, Beltran and Miller up, to ever strengthen the Team....

Tex, I'd flat out eat his contract, #13 too, but Tadpole has said that won't happen to #13.

What I'd give to see the Yanx Farm System, restocked; and flourish. Hell, same for the big Team as well...

TONIGHT'S STARTING LINEUP........

Duplicate to last night....

LF - Gardner
CF - Ellsbury
DH - Beltran
C- McCann
1B - Teixeira
SS - Gregorius
2B - Castro
3B - Headley
RF - Hicks

GO YANKEES!!!

Couldn't agree more. I just get the feeling that Cashman's asking price is exceedingly high, especially for
Miller.........and I might add that Miller's price should be. Which teams are going to make Cashman an offer
he cannot turn down? Also, for all the years of poor drafts, obtaining top talent through trades is the
obvious route to take.

Boston and Toronto both lost earlier today. The drama continues.

there seems to be a disconnect b/t McCuller's and Hinch...

why does any Team put 'the shift' on DD, then throw him outside high, with the LH flood gates open-

way to beat the shift Sir DD, now let's score some runs, next inning, too consistent a theme this yr...6 LOB & it's the bottom of the 6th. at this rate Yanx should have 9 LOB, Houston 8.5 ...by the EOG...

Among those to get gone Hicks has got to be on that list, All American Out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, can't win them all. Still got the series and the season series as well. Nice to see Warren and Sevey back in action.

Hicks cannot be starting everyday. He's absolutely terrible.

...15 strike outs in 32 ABs ain't gonna get it done.

...other compelling stats;

1. the Yanx are 29th out of 30 MLB teams and dead last in the AL with RISP (batting .220 ...league average is .260 and ML average is .257)

2. the Yanx have the lowest number of intentional BBs in MLB (10)...(speaks volumes about how little opposing teams fear the Yanx's batters)

I'd like to see the Steinbrenner Tadpoles intentionally walk former feared sluggers Tex & A-rodham right out the door.
