Weird Parallel: Damian Lillard and Russell Wilson

I don't know how many Blazers fans are also Seahawks fans, but Jody Allen owns both, so the two teams are clearly connected. It's fascinating to me that that by far the biggest star on each team is having such a bad season in their early 30s that some are wondering if they're already beginning a rapid decline phase. Others point to obvious injuries (Lillard's abdominal strain, Wilson's finger) but in both cases, the star insists that the injury has absolutely no bearing on their play.

It even extends to what's failing them--accuracy. Wilson is struggling to find his pinpoint accuracy, which is his greatest strength in the minds of many, while Lillard's shot (unquestionably his greatest strength) has been...inconsistent.

There's no causation here, that almost identical scenarios are playing out for both of the teams Allen owns--it's just very weird and I decided I'd point it out. At least Portland isn't crashing as a team, record-wise, in quite the way Seattle is.

Good observation. Some say that since Pauls died Pete has had to much control and not being as accountable. He's 70, HOF'er, won ships in college and pro's, time to retire.

I think we have to also consider that Paul himself had to retire from Microsoft in his early 30s for health reasons. Perhaps it is the Allen Curse that is affecting Wilson and Lillard.

Regarding Russ, i ne er saw him as a ling term type. He relies too much on his ability to run out of the pocket and the moment he lost a step i have felt he would be average at best. He is too short to see over the lines without running sideways to see the angles. i give Wilson two more years tops before he is considered no good.


Dame on the other hand. Lots of things going on that could be a factor.
