Welcome head coach Tiago Splitter

I'm curious when the Blazer front office knew about the arrest. Did they have prior knowledge?

The Splitter coach announcement sure came quick. Hard to imagine such a decision could have been made in just the space of a few hours either from the Blazer or Splitter's side.

Anyone have some insight?

I said as much in one of the accusation threads.

I doubt the Blazers had any prior knowledge. Any leaks could have put the agents in danger who were doing multiple raids simultaneously across the country.

As things unfolded yesterday, the Blazers stayed silent until the league announced that Billups is suspended from the team. Then the Blazers announced Splitter as coach.

They had one day to get a coach and prepare for the Warriors. The amount of time it took to decide who on the coaching staff would take over seems normal and no indicator of being tipped off.

I agree. There’s a limited amount of people to choose from in the interim, so I can’t imagine it taking all that long. Bjorken was apparently playing “nose goes” and opted out of the opportunity.

Exactly what i was going to say. Coordinated FBI arrests like this HAVE to be done by surprise and in roughly a 5 minute span.

Suke said that 100% Chauncey was caught by surprise, and he stated it as fact because someone he knows very well in law enforcement worked the case in coordination.

So no way in hell are rhey taking the risk of letting his employer know, especially such a high profile employer who employs hundreds of people and they would only need 1 to let him know and tip him off.

Though wouldnt that be interesting... if he got tipped off and he just doesnt show up to opening night lol.

If there's one thing we know about people who are illegally gambling or telling people about the cheating of a sports/betting system, they totally blab it and make it easy to figure out.

Plus, even with the podcast, its not like it said "we think Chauncey Billups is tied in with the Mafia" as much as he's cheating idiots at poker, right?

Plus (part 2) if the team was tipped off (you know how many fucking times I had to retype that because the stupid auto correct changed it to ripped off??), they were either tipped off with very short notice (thus the "wtf?" kind of response) OR they were told a long time ago and the FBI really fucked up because that's one of the biggest no no's to do in a secret investigation (letting more people know...because the more people who know about it, the more likely you'll get someone to blab).

As much as certain groups want to always blame the Blazers, I find it difficult to think that they're really into this more than the rest of us are.

I know on the radio this morning they were saying the Blazers didn't do enough digging into Chauncey and that "even a fan" could've found the podcast....as if just finding a podcast means that something is true. I could find a podcast that says the world is flat, doesn't mean it is.

Of course, if he's guilty of this, he deserves to have the book thrown at him. And if he's NOT guilty, he deserves to sue or get retribution over it.

It's kinda funny how sometimes Suke can be practical and use his brain, and then other times (sometimes in the same segment) say stupid shit like how the team should've done more background checking.

Complete amateurs can seem really skilled for a moment or two but they can’t be skilled consistently. That’s the difference between a rank amateur and a professional: consistency.

Usually when he says stupid shit hes making fun of the situation or making light of it, which is what it sounded like all 3 were doing yesterday during those segments... I do remember ropp saying something to that effect and suke saying "but the guy i know said Billups had no idea and why would the organization know and then risk them tipping him off" (paraphrase).

Have you listened to them? Honest question.
Not in years. I’ve been the Suke in an Isaac & Suke type broadcast though so I know that you can’t know everything and a lot of the time, knowing nothing is preferable. Mouth off, give the host something to be right about, make the listeners laugh or argue.

The R and T are next to each other. Sure it’s auto correct and not user error typo? :)

So then by this metric hes doing exactly what you said.

I can vouch for suke being very consistent, regardless.

I will be interested to see any rotation changes over the next few games. Also, if any personnel changes occur based on what Splitter wants/does.

Suke isn't being smart for saying that if it is true. He could risk his friends job. Also, not very assuring if agents are sharing that info with friends.

Tiago as coach might be a blessing in disguise. All indications are that he’s a bright young coach.
Yes, it could be positive to have a fresh voice and fresh ideas; I hope he introduces new stuff slowly though and sticks with Billups defensive identity and fast play.

I agree with you in part but thatd take some real sleuthing to figure out connections to all that considering no names or departments were mentioned.

I mean more if agents heard that. They could investigate who was on the job and try to figure out who is sharing the info.

Yeah thats the part I was agreeing with. But, this is orange dudes fbi and almost all of this was done before they got installed, so I doubt they have any actual common sense lol.

Why do you think it would take long?
I would be surprised if the decision took longer than 30 minutes.
You really only have 2 legitimate choices. Either Nate or Tiago.... MAYBE you give some outside consideration to St.Andrews.

You have seen the coaches working with the players for the last 5-6 weeks, so it should be a relatively easy decision.
