Never said nor implied that it did. Though if I were to say, I'd say my opinion carries as much weight as any other Blazers fans does.

I am just a Blazers fan who woke up in a silly mood and made a silly post, nothing more.
I got the joke.

Not that my opinion on jokes carries any weight. ;)

cmon....next we'll be talking about all the Asian airplane pilots...then the West Indian taxi drivers...then the Irish Cops...pretty soon it's 1952 all over again...we should all make a collective effort to stop color coding as a stat
I already told everyone he played at Bishop Gorman. I bet you money he doesn't give a shit about what color he is. He's gonna be awesome

Disappointing... Why did you buy into this? You shouldn't have wasted your time and intellect on such a stupid question that makes no difference...
Apparently, there are still some who need it explained to them, statistically.

I think 240 -245 is ample. So maybe 15 lbs in 2-3 years? I say he starts out at PF and as he gets older, and naturally bigger, he plays more center. I don't think the extra weight/muscle helped LMA. Tyson Chandler is a pretty good defensive center and his listed weight is 240.

Aldridge put that on in ONE season! And it most certainly DID help his game. He even admitted that he was getting bullied around by other bigger, brutish PFs and Centers. Not so much once he bulked up.

If you're thinking 240, then I'd agree with that. He's listed at 230, so 240 is quite reasonable. I just hope he develops the upper body strength to deal with the opposition that comes with this league.

He needs more lower core strength in the NBA...that's how he'll keep from being pushed around too much..Vonleh has that

He's 20. Between 20 and 24 I put on Ernest Hemingway level of drinking weight. All he has to do is hit the weight room and his body will fill out.

Collins wasn't even a starter for his college team. He was a bench player. His numbers are inflated because he was playing against second string players in a weak conference. I love the Blazers and hope I'm wrong but I just don't see him being much of a impact player in the NBA. If he was really a better prospect that Zeller he would of been a starter.
I guess you didn't watch the NCAA playoffs this kid as good as big that I seen in long time. When he gets stronger he going be tough.

Thought this was funny:

10. Zach Collins | 6-11 | 230 | C | Gonzaga | 19
Ten years ago, Collins would have been in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick, but the league has evolved away from his skillset. He is a remarkable athlete for his size, and his hand-eye coordination is truly special. He competes his butt off and he won't back down from a challenge. There is a lot to love about Collins' overall game, but time will tell whether he can defend in space on the high screen and roll, while also being able to protect the rim against NBA-level bruisers. If he cuts down on the fouls and learns to time his shot-blocking attempts, he can be a real asset in a team's big-man rotation.

10 years ago, the 1st overall pick was Greg Oden. Don't think Collins is the same level prospect.

Just want people to know, it's not against the law to compare a player to someone with a different skin color. Like where the fuck are people getting the Cody Zeller comparison. I imagine that was the first white guy that popped into your mind. Cody Zeller shot 0% from 3pt range on college, ok. Zach Collins shot 48% from 3. Zach also converted 2pt shots 8% higher.

There's no comparison defensively either. Zach grabbed 13.5 boards and over 4 blocks per 40. Zeller's freshman year he got 9 and 1.5 per 40. Cody is a decent backup in the NBA but Collins has big time star potential.

Did somebody in this thread actually compare him to KAT and said he might be better? Good Lord!?!?!?!!!

Yes I did. Compare their college stats and their skillset. Though KAT has been critizied for his defense, and I think that'll be a strength of Zach, he'll be a true 2 way player. If I'm right, post a video of yourself eating your shorts.

Well, their names are practically anagrams of each other...

What is it with this team's obsession with shooting 3 point shots? And why do our big men have to be a part of that equation?

Don't get me wrong: our guards are more than up to the task, and that should be a job for THEM, not our bigs.

I'm starting to think that might actually not be a Stotts problem, but rather a Management problem (Olshey?). We need bigs who can box out the paint and give our guards lanes to run into. And I really don't think Collins is that type of guy. Yet.

This whole obsession with drafting bigs who can shoot 3s needs to fucking stop. It hasn't worked with Meyers, and there is little point of having someone with that size outside the paint.

Welcome to today's NBA. Do the names Kevin Love and Draymond Green ring a bell?

I'm not talking about Position, I'm talking about size. I'm talking about guys who are 7' or close. Love is 6-9, and I imagine Green is probably close to that. My definition of a traditional "Big" is someone who's 6-10 or bigger.

Collins has yet to shoot or make a 3pt shot in the NBA so I'm not worried.

Umm yeah, nice rant except for one thing. Meyers wasn't a big who could shoot the 3 when we drafted him. He made exactly one 3-pointer in his two year college career

Exactly what other bigs have we drafted that can shoot 3s?

I just went back over 20 years, and prior to Collins and Swanigan, I can't find a single big man who was a 3-point shooter at the time we drafted them. The only one that even comes close is Luke Babbitt, but technically we did not draft him and at 6'9" he doesn't meet your definition of a big man.

And if you're worried about Collins camping out at the 3-point line, he only made ten three pointers in his one-year college career. I think the point is not that he shoots a lot of them, but that the few he does attempt he converts at a high percentage.

BNM

It good that he can make a shot from 18 ft and longer. But the 3 point shot won't be his bread butter at the next level. Bread butter will be low post and the shot from free throw line and just inside the 3 point line. What going to happen that going to open the lane up for our guards. Collins also set really good screens that also will help our guards. On defense if he can guard the pick roll or guard the other teams power fowards then we got something with Nurk and Collins on the floor at the same time.

Isn't that what they said about Meyers when he got drafted?
