Wenyen got the Pelicans gig because of Portland...I think .the Kings had him in the G league when we traded for him...he is a good kid but unproven so far all for a small sample size and NO is a good place for a young guy trying to stake his place on a team
 
Wish the best for Gabriel but he was horrible in the bubble, fouled every other minute. Nothing on offense. The love some Blazers fans have for the shittiest 14th man is mind boggling.

How many shots can Wenyan create?

We have players that are better than him now (Rico, Jones, Collins) and have higher upside at PF (Giles).

Glad Wenyan gets a chance in New Orleans but very happy we got Melo in a minimum deal over him.
 
I think the thing that some in here like about Wenyen as opposed to Melo is potential. There is no doubt that especially on this roster Melo will be much more valuable than Wenyen would have been. I just hope that Melo is treated like Wenyen and has to earn every minute that he plays, no team has time to let any player get playing time based on career accomplishments. Also I hope when Melo is on the floor he plays all out on defense and sees himself as a player that gets a quick an efficient shot or moves the ball onto someone else.

You may want to look up useful.

Covington does every better than Wenyan.

We do not need Wenyan, since we have plenty of players that are better at doing his job.

We can use Carmelo since he can create a shot. That makes him USEFUL!
 
Gabriel was to raw for this team. He would have been barried on the bench. I'm glad he went to a team where he can get some decent minutes.
 
Funny - but most of the comments here about Gabriel could also be applied to Little.

How would you feel about replacing Little with Oden 2.0?

One of them was drafted, was a McDonalds All-American, was also was considered the #3 in his recruiting class. The other wasn't drafted, wasn't a McDonalds All-American, wasn't top 3 in his recruiting class and was a throw in in a trade.

In two years in college, Wenyen averaged 6 ppg.

The only comparison the two have is that they both played for the Blazers last season.

Little is 3 years younger than Wenyen. That means he's had 3 more years of growth and progress to compare to Little. If in 3 seasons Little is still only getting minutes because of a lot of injuries, and can't even beat out Mario Hezonja, then maybe the team should trade him for Greg Oden 2.0
 
I was a big fan. Giles was the right decision though.

Nope. Not a small sample size at all... We have over 1,900-minutes of watching what Melo can do at this stage of his career. He'll have a nice game here & there, but overall his play is a net negative.

At least with Gabriel, we don't know what he'll become yet. But as it stands - he at least has a chance to have a positive contribution.

The sample size given in the picture is 53 minutes of play, spread over 4 games. Of which he scored a grand total of 4.3 ppg.

That is the epitome of sample size.

LOL. You completely ignore my point. MELO is a net NEGATIVE player. There is plenty of evidence for that.

Again, we have no idea of what Gabriel can become.

I think you're inflating the value and worth of Gabriel. My point isn't that I think Melo is some great get, it's that we're arguing over a guy who is barely in the league.

Blazer fans (and I'm sure fans of every team) always do this. We did it to Luis Montero too.

Ask Dame who he would want on the court with 5 minutes left on the road and the game is tied. We need players who can contribute NOW son. Time is a tickin.
