Shamelessly stole this from Realgm, but at the 24 minute mark they ask him if he expects to be back, and he says no.

Old news. Have a buddy that knows Wes from a side business project, wes has thought for awhile that management wanted to move on from him.

It's imperative we resign him though

Start @ 23:10

Notice the all-white suit .....with yellow? I think he's eying the Lakers.

Of course he did. Why would he say anything else?

I tried watching a few more minutes of that "show," and had to stop before I stabbed myself in the brain. Is that really a regular show, or is it an SNL-style parody of something else?

I don't know why anyone would torture themselves by watching any non live sporting event shows on ESPN, that's probably why it took so long for anyone to post this here.

what do you mean why would he say anything else? Doesn't come across as negotiating tactic.

It doesn't even seem like he wants to be in Portland. Damn, I can see him going to LA too, he'd like the lifestyle. That would be painful.

I can see Aldridge thinking similar thoughts.....

As a big minutes 6th man? Yes. We need to play him in a Jason Terry/James Harden role circa 2011.

Who would start, though? A free agent? I guess if AAA comes back he'd have a full summer and training camp to gel with the team. I'd rather have the cap space at this point I think.

How much would it hurt if 2 of our best 3 players went to the Lakers. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Also f this summer, I just want it to be july...

Shit. Remember our team after he went down? Is that what you want on a full time basis? He BETTER be back.

Unless we've got a plan to get Khris Middleton or something...

But even then: you need somebody to replace his fire, because outside of him this is a pretty low key team.

Id be surprised if they let afflalo go..... I think he is our starting 2 next year, maybe they already let Wes know they felt he was too risky with his injury

Keeping Afflalo and losing Wes is my nightmare. I would turn my back on Olshey for that: it would be a sign he values his own connections over the team.

I think Wes is going to go to what team gives him the most money and there will be some desperate teams that will take a risk and overpay Mathews hoping he will come back 100%. I think we make a nice offer to Wes but I think some team is going top panic and give him 50m.

I must have missed it. I didn't see it where he said he didnt feel he would be back.

:argument:Goddammit, SPD!

I started my thread before Santee.

I don't think he said, "No" as in a definitive "no", but in a way that people will answer questions with a "no".

Almost like a version of "you know" or "yeah, no"

Or like "do you have any idea if you're coming back to Portland?"

"No, I don't have any idea if I'm coming back. I'm not going to say anything that makes it appear as tho I am, so I won't screw myself out of a better deal".

His mamma didn't raise no dummy, he dug our rap...

If Wes doesn't come back to Portland, I hope he ends up in San Antonio or Chicago. It was painful when JR Rider went to the Lakers. :( Fuck that franchise.

Damn what the hell happened? He seems pissed.

I really thought he'd be back..
