Westbrook to Houston

Paul is owed 123M. Now how much of that is he going to leave on the table? Lets' say 15M. That would mean that OKC would have 36M in dead salary over the next 3 years. 36M for a player who is on another team. Why the hell would they do that if there was still the chance they could trade him and get completely out of the contract a year or two earlier

unless I'm not understanding how buyouts are handled in the CBA, I can't see any path for OKC to buy-out CP3 without completely crippling their cap

Oh right I was just thinking of his salary next season...holy hell there is no way

Exactly. $123MM over the next three years. It would screw their cap so badly as to negate the point of stockpiling of draft picks.

$5 million a year over 25 years lol

Westbrook couldnt even fit with Durant or PG and you think he can fit with Harden? Lol. That team isnt any better.

Couldn't fit with Durant or PG? He and Durant almost beat the Warriors in the WC Finals and he averaged a triple-double per game twice while playing with George after winning the MVP.

Won’t make Houston better. At all.

Harden can stand out at the 3-point line getting fouled/flopping while Westbrook drives hard and gets fouled at the hoop. Surround with decent 3-point shooters. Puts a lot of pressure on the defense.

I like the Clippers' bench better than the Rockets. Especially in the playoffs where the combination of Pat Bev, PG, and Kawhi can turn Harden and Westbrook to Brick City (shout out to Redman)

I get the Texas teams, but I'm curious as to why the Nuggets. LOL, it just seems random.

I'd agree the Clippers bench is superior, but I think the Rockets starting five is better and the style they play is harder to deal with especially with this kind of firepower at guard. They have two guys in the backcourt now who are legitimate threats to get triple-doubles in any game.

Anyone saying that was being silly. Dame and CJ can both play off the ball. Harden hates playing off the ball and Westbrook is a liability off the ball.
Yeah, and Donavon is regretting not taking the Mich or other job.

He'll have his own college team soon enough. They can call it OKC U.

Sounds like a bad move for both teams to me. Westbrook hero mode > CP3 hero mode

Westbrook ego > CP3 ego

Not entirely sure Westbrook and Harden can win a championship together - they already tried that...plus they had Durant as well.

No one has that kind of space. They will have to take players back
agreed, but the picks are the part they'll care about most.

For example,
Teague + Covington (rerouted to us, of course, this IS a blazers forum) + pick for Paul, with us sending an expiring and a pick.

Clippers team makes far more sense and as you say they are equipped very well to handle Harden and Westbrook.

If CP3 goes to the Lakers they will be very good.

maybe

we don't know yet what the Clippers will have as their opening roster. They only have 12 players right now so they have to add 2

say they somehow sign Dwight Howard. Their starting lineup could then be something like:

Patrick Beverly
PG13
Kawhi
Harrell
Dwight

that's looking pretty awesome to me. And it leaves Lou Williams, Landry Shamet, Mo Harkless, Rodney McGruder, Jamychal Green, and Ivaca Zubac on the bench...wow

So, who is out of the SF commercials, CP3 or the Beard?

I don't think Dwight has anything left. Starting him diminishes your lineup. I think Harrell's real value is off the bench. Beverly's a gnat ... defensively, that's as good a group of three on the perimeter as you could want, but it's only got two offensive threats, no shooters around the big two.

It would have to be a long term buyout...no way they are paying $41 mill over a couple years.

Even as a stretch, without looking it up I think it would still be around 20 mil a year for around 6 years

Next closest team?
Fair enough.

I get that, but the way I see it? Both have been notoriously underachieving for years now in the playoffs. To me, Harden will have his moments but will have his moments of of-shooting nights. Westbrook's BB IQ isn't that great when it's close in the 4th. Just that combination along with the defense that the Clippers will have won't bode well in HOU's favor. Just my two cents.
