~ By Ben Stein:

Why is President Barack Obama in such a hurry to get his socialized medicine bill passed?

Because he and his cunning circle realize some basic truths:

The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008. They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other ultra-leftists that they simply took him on faith.

They ignored his anti-white writings in his books. They ignored his quiet acceptance of hysterical anti-American diatribes by his minister, Jeremiah Wright.

They ignored his refusal to explain years at a time of his life as a student. They ignored his ultra-left record as a "community organizer," Illinois state legislator, and Senator.

The American people ignored his total zero of an academic record as a student and teacher, his complete lack of scholarship when he was being touted as a scholar.

Now, the American people are starting to wake up to the truth. Barack Obama is a super likeable super leftist, not a fan of this country, way, way too cozy with the terrorist leaders in the Middle East, way beyond naïveté, all the way into active destruction of our interests and our allies and our future.

The American people have already awakened to the truth that the stimulus bill -- a great idea in theory -- was really an immense bribe to Democrat interest groups, and in no way an effort to help all Americans.

Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basically means that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do.

The American people already know that Mr. Obama's plan to lower health costs while expanding coverage and bureaucracy is a myth, a promise of something that never was and never will be -- a bureaucracy lowering costs in a free society. Either the costs go up or the free society goes away.

These are perilous times. Mrs. Hillary Clinton, our Secretary of State, has given Iran the go-ahead to have nuclear weapons, an unqualified betrayal of the nation. Now, we face a devastating loss of freedom at home in health care. It will be joined by controls on our lives to "protect us" from global warming, itself largely a fraud if believed to be caused by man.

Mr. Obama knows Americans are getting wise and will stop him if he delays at all in taking away our freedoms.
There is his urgency and our opportunity. Once freedom is lost, America is lost.

Wake up, beloved America.

Stein has it right. I remember when he was my State Senator; he was much more open about his belief system.

Oh so the stimulus bill, which was enacted about 6 months ago, is supposed to undo all of the economic damage done during the previous decade in less than 6 months? I know people are impatient but this is ridiculous. Not just ridiculous. Fucking ridiculous.

Health care is a very wide ranging issue, and when somebody wants to do something about it, even though no legislation has been enacted yet, they are wrong. That's pretty amazing from a rich guy who has health care and probably never has to worry about it. He probably has never had to watch a relative die and send his or her family into bankruptcy while being treated until the end. He has never had to deal with a hospital being stiffed for bills by people who cannot afford to pay. That is why his "wisdom" is hollow. The health care system is broke. If you don't like the solution being offered, offer your own alternative. Othewise you are just a bitcher who is pissed because they will be taxed more under the current legislation being offered.

Pay attention to history. During my lifetime India, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel have all got nuclear weapons, while many different sitting presidents put pressure on them, but in the end did nothing. Republican and Democrats alike. This administration has not put an open ended deal on the table. They have given Iran until September to engage. If they don't engage by then, actions will be taken, and the proper way to take action is with Diplomacy first and a Fist later. When George Bush went into Kuwait and Iraq the first time he did it right by building a coalition and trying all other options first. If you just strike blindly, other nations will not support you. You do not show the wisdom needed to get their support. Violence should always be last. Secretary of State Clintons remarks were part of a very broad interview, and he took only a piece of the lines said in order to make it look like that is what she meant. In the interview, she was actually asked about options and she said you have to consider all the possibilities, including the worst possible scenario. That is when she responded about that the US would cover allies with a protection umbrella, which he appropriately twisted to were allowing Iran to have nukes.

Lastly, on the Obama and the cop deal. No where did Obama mention racism in his words. He said the arrest was stupid. Not the arrest of the Black Harvard Professor by the white police officer was stupid. Who brought up race? The media, because it stirs the pot, and stirring the pot sells media.

Obama mentioned race specifically in his comments. Very specifically. I felt his comments were deeply preudicial considering they came from a US President.

No. It was clear from the time it was passed that it wasn't a "stimulus" package. It was a democrat spending package. It was also clear that it would not undo the "economic damage". A correction was imminent.

It has nothing to do with impatience. There is no expectation that this "stimulus" will help the economic situation. It was rushed through the house and senate, and 6 months later, almost none of it has been spent. It should be obvious to anybody paying attention that the wool was pulled over most Americans' eyes with the passing of the "stimulus" package. We, as taxpayers, should be demanding our money back.

Ouch.

NEW YORK – Fox News Channel commentator Glenn Beck says he believes President Obama is a racist.
Beck made the statement during a guest appearance on the "Fox & Friends" morning show. He said Obama has exposed himself as a person with "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture."

His remarks came during a discussion of Obama's reaction to the arrest of Harvard University scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr.

Gates is black and was arrested for disorderly conduct by a white police officer over a misunderstanding about a break-in at Gates' home.

There was no immediate response from the White House.

Let me say this- in no way, shape or form do I think Obama is racist. I think he grossly over reacted to something that was a minimal incident and I think he should make amends.

I also think Obama, as a black President, has made it a point (un until this incident) to defuse any race tensions that may exist as evidenced by some of his speeces and interviews. I'm not going to let this one single incident make me think he's some sort of racist. All of us make remarks we shouldn't and if we were held to them...

stein shot his credibililty wad with expelled. he proved he's just another talking head ass-clown with an agenda.

The day Ben Stein figures out anything will be the day 2 + 2 = 3

Socialism? Yeah, right, like Japan? Austria? Germany? Lichtenstein? Every industrialized country in the entire world, and many developing countries, has national health except the US, which has the most expensive healthcare in the world and is mediocre at best in every health index.

Ironically, the health plan explicitly rejects single payer health care like they have in all those "socalist" countries in favor of very capitalist insurance. Maybe there will be a public insurance option. Maybe.

The not so funny thing is that Obama's actual policies have been not even truly liberal, let alone socialist. Actual policies as opposed to the insane ravings of Stein, Limbaugh and Beck. Real liberals, as opposed to the imaginary demons, are getting pretty po'd at this president.

BTW, Obama is actually a Nazi. And he's a Muslim. And he's not really president because he was born on Mars. Or somewhere.

And white men are the sad victims of racism carried out by black men and Latinas. I mean, they only had 106 of 110 Supreme Court justices and 43 of 44 presidents. How oppressed can you get?

universal health care blows.

Says someone who has obviously never lived in a country with it.

So, using Republican logic, you are therefore in favor of the current system of health-care insanity in this country? No changes? You are a traitor if you think otherwise!

The day Ben Stein figures out anything will be the day 2 + 2 = 3

Well, he happens to be right on this measure. President Obama is now trying to enact policy prescriptions that would thrill the folks who voted for him to be their State Senator. Of course, that's not how he ran, but we now know he's nothing new. So much for being different.

Socialism? Yeah, right, like Japan? Austria? Germany? Lichtenstein? Every industrialized country in the entire world, and many developing countries, has national health except the US, which has the most expensive healthcare in the world and is mediocre at best in every health index.

It's interesting that you selected four countries that embraced Fascist policies. But from trying to exert control over the Nation's financial industry by not allowing them to repay TARP funds, to what they've done with the US automotive industry, to what they'd like to do with our industrial processes and finally to trying to take over 17%of this country's economy through socialized healthcare, and you're seeing a massive expansion in the role of the Federal Government. However, it's my guess that you're more comfortable with the losing your freedom to ensure equality of outcome than am I.

And it's clear that you've never lived in a country with socialized health care. I find it odd that with the wonderful treatment everyone is getting in those countries, that the vast majority of the wealthy in those countries would possess supplemental insurance that sends them to the US when they have serious health issues. Also, I'm sure you don't find it all disconcerting that the very people voting on this legislation have exempted themselves from this treatment. But, as we know from your self-proclaimed "red diaper baby" label, you're okay with all animals being equal, but some are more equal than others.

Ironically, the health plan explicitly rejects single payer health care like they have in all those "socalist" countries in favor of very capitalist insurance. Maybe there will be a public insurance option. Maybe.

Wow, and here I thought you were smart enough to see the salami tactic. It's being done in steps. Step One: create a public option. Step Two: Allow it to run at a massive loss which drives out private competition and creates a monopoly. Step Three: Voila, a de-facto single-payer system is created.

His policies have actually been more National Socialist than Socialist.

And white men are the sad victims of racism carried out by black men and Latinas. I mean, they only had 106 of 110 Supreme Court justices and 43 of 44 presidents. How oppressed can you get?

What difference does race, sex, religion or creed make? All people are created equal. It seems the ones who really focus on those items is the Left. Personally, I care about results. Give me a meritocracy any day of the week.

Says someone who has obviously never lived in a country with it.

I agree with that poster, and I've lived in several countries with socialized health care.

So, using Republican logic, you are therefore in favor of the current system of health-care insanity in this country? No changes? You are a traitor if you think otherwise!

I'm in favor of health insurance being deregulated and to be used more like auto or home insurance. Take out the packaged requirements state boards require. Get employers out of the health care business so when you lose your job, you don't lose your coverage or have to reapply and have a previously covered condition denied because it's pre-existing. Allow your own personal health insurance account to be tax deductable. Give people the option to have catastrophic coverage, where you pay out of pocket for checkups, etc. and have coverage for big stuff.

When people pay for their own care, you get the cost controls of the market. It allows physicians, nurses, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies to continue to innovate and make a profit. Everybody wins.

Here's the actual link to Stein's article, which is kind of hard to find on the site:

http://spectator.org/archives/2009/07/24/weve-figured-him-out

Stein is absolutely right. Obama's poll numbers are dropping like a rock, because Americans are finally waking up to who he really is--which is an extreme leftist. I thought that was clear during the election, but apparently a lot of people couldn't see it.

I don't think it was so much people didn't see it, but rather they didn't want to believe it. My thought is that most people wanted to believe his words above his deeds. I furthermore think it had to do with the idea that voting for Obama represented a repudiation of this country's past. People in this country are much less bigoted than we're made out to be. They believed him to be different, and he's just like all the rest, except much more to the left.

Yes. I completely agree.

As with everything else, the extreme racist minority makes the most negative storylines so that is what is sold to the public and is perceived to be the truth. Of course that only applies to white racists as we so rarely speak about minorities who are racists towards white people and also perpetuate racism.

Because racist whites are all that matters as minorities who are racist get a free pass because of history.

what's the saying they use on the main board all the time . . . that's right:

The sky is falling . . . the sky is falling . . . the sky is falling

I don't see any "chicken littles" here. We are just seeing people finally realize that Obama isn't going to be the savior they made him to be in their minds.

Sure saying Obama isn't the savior isn't being chicken little. Saying our president is a racist, hates white people and that our freedom will be lost with him as president says chicken little all over it.

This is so sad and funny, yet mostly just sad.

There are a trillion things happening to this country every day that erode our freedoms. People like Obama have learned that we will take it, so they will keep going unless someone stops them.

Did you see the story about that girl who got arrested for being nasty to a 911 operator/police officer?

Did you know that in Vegas we have police monitored video cameras in what are admittedly high crime parts of town?

We literally allow them to videotape us to make ourselves feel safer. I would go destroy one tonight if I didn't know that my girlfriend would be SOL trying to make ends meet without me. You know I would go to jail for doing something that should be applauded.

The brain damaged amongst us would be perfectly fine if we had 40 something minority presidents in a row just to make up for all the whiteys we had previously. It wouldn't matter to them if a less qualified person were president as long as it was "fair"

I would propose some sort of testing for the office, I had to take tests to get hired to push buttons at SEH America. You wouldn't have to be the clear winner of the tests, but at least score in the top group. Something I think Ben Stein could do well on, unlike Sarah Palin. If you didn't like him, but you liked her...tough. Find someone with her values that could pass the damn test.

After 9/11 some people banned songs, during Katrina they confiscated weapons that people were using to defend themselves. None of our laws or rights are exempt from those in power trampling on them.

I find it funny that people suspect that 99 percent of whiteys walk around harboring racist feelings towards people of color, yet any mention that Obama MIGHT have some racist thoughts deep in his soul is a joke to them. I know Obama is a genius to them and when you think about it you realize that if he is that smart, he probably should have at least a little ill will towards the white man. I know I would if I were black, whether it was deserved or not.

Sorry if this post is rambling, there are just so many symptoms of this country going straight to hell that it is hard to stay on one topic.

Boy, you said a mouthful there. I remember Democrats in 2000 protesting that George W. Bush wasn't "ready" for the White House, and that we had to find someone more qualified. Then, eight years later, they turn around and elect a guy who used to be a "community organizer" in Chicago and had served only about three months of his first term in Congress. So much for the "qualification" test . . .

No, but it sounds good to me.

That reads as totally insane. Sorry that you feel that way.

You might think it is insane now, wait until they have the cameras installed in your house. Or cameras outside that can see in and tape your converstations. No biggie huh?

I will find the link about that girl who's father might have died thanks to a nazi prick police officer. Hey, pretty soon you will have to have a credit card handy when you call 911. Hope your grandma doesn't die if you are rude to a 911 operator.

Here you go.......sounds good huh?..................[video=youtube;Zj91eeoFOBk]

I really hope for a day when people like you stop giving flippant answers to serious issues. You can say stuff like that as a joke and none of us will care, but if enough stupid people hear it they might start to believe in your jokes.

On the other hand you might not be joking, in a world where a mother will eat her child's brain who knows what to think?

That is how politics works. When you get caught doing something, say the other side did it first. Or say they do it more often so you can be excused this one time.

Now the left feels like they can do whatever they want. They can blame Bush for everything. They can say that we would have been worse off if they hadn't spent however many trillion dollars. We can't actually prove them wrong, we just have to trust them.

Off topic, someone I know found out that their boss got fired today. The boss didn't do her damn job, she had a young child at home and milked her job because she could. One of her employees went behind her back and ratted her out. Coupled with her low performance scores and her employee ratting on her she got fired.

Guess who gets all the blame? You guessed it, the employee who ratted her out. Nobody takes any responsibility for what they do anymore.

Thanks for the link. That's clearly not how it's supposed to work, and I hope that he is properly punished.

With that being said, the system allows for people who act inappropriately to be caught. You're railing against technology to monitor public locations and yet ONLY through recording and monitoring is this story able to be told.

I really hope for a day when people like you stop giving flippant answers to serious issues. You can say stuff like that as a joke and none of us will care, but if enough stupid people hear it they might start to believe in your jokes.

I don't mind the idea of someone being arrested for disorderly conduct over 911. It's a valuable resource and people should not abuse it or the operators. Again, in the case you linked to it appears that the rules were violated by the operator, but that doesn't mean that the rules are bad.

On the other hand you might not be joking, in a world where a mother will eat her child's brain who knows what to think?

Well, you are the one who would go out and bash video cameras and go to prison for... what? Aren't there more constructive ways to deal with that? Would you appreciate if everyone who disagreed with a law resorted to violence?

Ed O.

If by violence you mean smashing a piece of plastic with electronic devices hidden within then yes.

We are only talking about our civil rights, no biggie.

The only silver lining to this cloud is that there is a possibility of catching the cops when they beat up a drug dealer. That video would probably just disappear though. :sigh:

By the way, I am all for beating up drug dealers. I just don't want the cops doing it.

There is no guarantee of privacy in public places, IMO. You disagree. If you want to get your friends to outvote my friends, that's cool. That's the way the system works.

If you go out and break cameras, then you're merely costing yourself your freedom and money. At minimum, you're just costing taxpayers money when the camera is replaced.

Who would you rather have beat up drug dealers?
