We've left our solar system

The Voyager 1 probe had "Left" our solar system like 5 times already. It's very interesting what is the "boundary" and all of the magnetic bubbles the probe has encountered.

P.S. It wasn't "humanity", it was we exceptional Americans. We will say the accomplishment was for humanity, but it was America that did it.

Barf. Can't we leave our petty squabbling and notions of essentialism on earth?

No, maxie. The Voyager was a NASA project, but look at NASA's staff, it attracts smart people from all over the world. The famous Voyager record was specifically designed as an international collaboration.

Sad, that you have to celebrate a scientific achievement by dissing most of the planet.

When I read the article in the OP, my mind immediately heard William Shater's voice say, "Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before."

U. S. A.! U. S. A.! U. S. A.! U. S. A.!

And you miss what makes up America. We attract the best and the brightest. We attract those who wish to make a better life for themselves. Russia doesn't attract those people. China doesn't. Western Europe doesn't. We do.

I make no apologies for my country's exceptionalism.

That's exactly what I meant when I said, "U. S. A.! U. S. A.! U. S. A.! U. S. A.!"

I know what you mean. Even more specifically, it wasn't "America," it was the Carter administration. We will say the accomplishment was for all time, but it was launched in 1977.

And you miss what makes up the Democratic Party. We attract the best and the brightest. We attract those who wish to help the underdogs make a better life for themselves. Republicans don't attract those people. The Tories in Britain don't. We do. I make no apologies for my party's exceptionalism.

CAR-TER!!! CAR-TER!!!

I just finished many hours of reading various internet sites about space. When I saw this thread title, I KNEW it was about either politics or gay issues. Science on this board? Yeah right.

I don't care what side of the fence you're on, that was kind of funny.

I KNEW this thread would get into gay stuff. I have a special "thread gaydar" sixth sense.
