<{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I don't think the Mavs are going to fall off in next two or three years though, so thinking the picks will be in the teens or any lower than that might be asking a bit too much. Josh Howard is only 27 and Nowitzki is only 29. And don't forget Mark Cuban is still the owner. If they need something, he'll shell out the money to get it.</div>
The Mavs are immediately going to sign Kidd to an extension, so they'll probably have less cap space than you think.
Assuming the extension is for 2 more years, that would give them Dirk, Kidd, Josh Howard, Dampier and Terry making a combined 64 million dollars over the next 4 years (assuming they re-sign Howard, who's the only player of the bunch you could legitimately refer to as "the future").
I don't know how it's going to play out, but that means that (less 3 million dollars) their entire bench is made up of players signed with luxury tax money. We all know Cuban will pay it, but wow...

What I meant was they wouldn't be afraid to go over the luxury tax, take on a longer contract in a trade, use the MLE on a player that some other teams might not take a shot on, that sort of thing. They aren't going to be under the cap for a long time, that's for sure.
