What a terrible job by Dwight Jaynes...

Most of the idiots on the radio and media are just that. Idiots.

i have listened to the game online.

wheels show is ok. kenny trys to be tough but doesnt have the personality for it. jay allen is the good guy. wheels is wheels.

they need me

Then prove it. Send in an audition tape and show that you are as good as you think you are.

I have the perfect replacement, and I'm surprised no one thought of this.

"THE".

Did you see the attempt at commentary of golf? As he said, it is a tough gig. Great guy, but would definitely need some coaching.

meh, he'll be back me thinks....i used to like wheels at work, but the show is so fucking repetitive now. they always talk about blazers and ducks..not much else

So he is working with Dave Shore...

This morning, Jaynes was harping that he'll need to see the Blazers beat a "real" team before he's convinced they're on the upward road.

not much else to talk about here :devilwink:

Which is why I think Gavin has to make the move.

It's strange, I would personally hate that decision of moving to a new city to continue the growth of my career, or staying where you are with a huge glass ceiling. Nothing against Dallas, but I would not want to relocate to Dallas and build my career there . . . yet in Gavin's industry, he really has no choice.

Really how far can a sports talk radio guy go in Ptd? Gavin will now be able to talk about the Mavs, the Cowboys, the stars, college football galore and I'm sure other related sports topics. His world of sports talk radio just jumped about 3-5 levels up.

1080 owns 95.5 except when Rome is on. I don't enjoy any of the local programming on 95.5 but I love Primetime on 1080. I don't need 24/7 Blazers talk. I like to mix it up a bit.

This is a golden chance for 1080. I see Dwight having the same problem as Kenny Vance. Contrary to what some say, Dwight is knowledgable about basketball, IMO. But he is too old and dry (and a bit annoying) and I see listners now tuning back to 1080 and flipping between the two until one personality really grabs them.

Whoever does the 1080 morning show, time to step it up big time. They might want to even bring in some fresh blood to try and steal some of the 95.5 listeners who start flipping looking for something better tahn Dwight.

the morning show for 1080 is Colin Cowherd. I doubt he'll do anything different from what he does now.

He won't change . . . Ptd is just a side market.

I like Colin, but during the season I perfer local talk in the morning. Guess I'm stuck with Dwight, ugh. I had a feeling Keeny and the chick he did the show with wouldn't last (listened to them but constantly flipped, it was boring). I hope Dwight doesn't last. Put him on with Wheels in the afternoon and get some energy fpr the morning would be my recommendation.

:dunno: Not much he *can* do differently. In a market where the NBA matters, he knows more about professional pretzel tossing than he does about basketball.

Rashad Floyd does a show on 95.5 on the weekends. You want energy, I think he's your guy.

true but canzano is good at finding other things to talk about.....baseball, nfl football(they used to cover this good), anything else but all blazers and all ducks.

I actually like CiP, but never really cared for Dawson much

The way I see it, you have a choice: blowhards who are full of themselves, but who actually talk about the Blazers and other Northwest sports stuff (95.5), or interesting discussion with only a slight trace of ego, but that almost never touches the NW (1080). I'm speaking specifically of Gavin & the idiots savant in the AM and John "let me give more publicity to my idiot stalker to further stoke my already inflated sense of myself" Canzano in the PM... as opposed to Colin Cowherd and Dan Patrick on 1080.

The exceptions? Jim Rome on 95.5 is totally unacceptable because he has the blot-out-the-sun ego to go with virtually no discussion of anything in the NW (worst of both worlds!). But on the other hand, Wheels at work - when Wheels is actually on the show - is actually pretty darn good. Courtside is a decent show, too... and I actually don't mind "Strong at Night" - but I think it's because he's just not as full of himself as the others.

Oh, and the exception in the other direction - I forgot about them because they're so utterly forgettable - is Isaac and Suke on 1080. They're god-awful, and getting worse it seems. As much as Canzano irritates me, he is bald head and shoulders above the aging teenagers on the AM side.
