I'd like Biedrins, although I didn't know his contract was 36 million over 4 more years. He's pretty productive when he gets minutes, but often he doesn't because A) Don Nelson is a horrible coach, and B) fouls. But I'd love what he could give us.

I'd do Blake, Outlaw and Rudy for Biedrins in a heartbeat. It works under the CBA and it gives us a huge upgrade at center this season. Biedrins is young and can play the 5 or 4. So, long term it gives us a three man 5/4 rotation of Oden, Biedrins and Aldridge. Which also makes Joel a tradable asset next season with his expiring contract (assuming he opts in).

It gives GS two expiring contracts, for the costs savings they desire and a cheap, reasonably young player that would fit well in Nellie's system. I'd even thorugh in Patty Mills and/or our lottery protected 2010 1st round pick to sweeten the deal if necessary.

Too bad he will probably end up going to the Lakers for Morison and The Machine.

Yep. I'd do it.

Plus, from Nelly's perspective? It helps him win games this year, which is critical as he approaches the all-time mark.

The Warriors don't make the playoffs after getting those three guys, but they get better. In the long run that might not be a good move, but since when have the Warriors cared about the long run?

A long-term big man rotation of Oden/Aldridge/Biedrins would be amazing. Biedrins might even start over Aldridge, if Aldridge doesn't improve his game.

My original trade proposal (Blake + Outlaw + Rudy for Biedrins) was the simplest trade that met our needs and GSW's wants.

If they want more, we could throw in one or two more cheap players and/or draft picks.

I mentioned Patty Mills as I thought he'd fit in well in Nellie's system, but with Monta Ellis and Steph Curry in front of him, he might not get a lot of PT. All three of our 2009 second rounders make the same salary ($457,588), but Mills is only signed for 1 year, Cunningham for 2 and Pendergraph for 3 (3rd year not fully guaranteed). We could add two of these players to the original proposal and it would still work. They may want Pendergraph as a big cheap body to help replace some of Biedrins lost minutes, and if they move Magette, they may also want Cunningham (especially if they planned to let Outlaw walk when his contract expires). I don't have a problem giving up Pendergraph or Mills. Cunningham would be tougher. We'd still have Batum and Webster, but I'd hate to give up both Outlaw and Cunningham.

If they want to also dump Maggette to save even more salary, it's still quite workable (CBA wise). I'm not a huge Maggette fan (seems selfish to me), but he would certianly give us another proven scorer to take some of the burden off Roy.

If we add Maggette and Joel to the original proposal it works. That's:

Blake + Outlaw + Rudy + Joel for Biedrins + Maggette

They'd have to waive Joel's physical, but that trade gets them out of two huge long term contracts (which is supposedly what they are trying to accomplish to make the team more attractive to a potential buyer such as Larry Ellison).

That trade still has room for us to add a couple more cheap players and/or draft picks as sweeteners.

I personally prefer the original, simpler proposal, but I would not be against the second.

Yep, as I mentioned in the other thread, I love that this trade addressed our current need for a bigger, better starting center AND works long term with the Oden/Biedrins/Aldridge three man 5/4 rotation.

So, it helps us both short term and long term.

Beans contract is good, very reasonable for a good young center who is near the lead lead in FG%, 10+ boards, and decent but improving D (this injury plagued season being the exception). Plus he and Turiaf are their only centers and there's no way Turiaf can stay on the floor for 30 min. He's not going anywhere for just cap space. I don't doubt he gets traded, but it will be a deal like they talked about last offseason for Amare or another good big. Riley says they are not looking at adding a big time player this year but I really hope he's playing possum and going after Bosh. A package of Biedrins, Wright/Randolph, and a first may do it, if Toronto expects Wright/Randolph to recover from their injuries.

I was merely going by the recent articles in the San Jose Mercury News stating that the Warriors are trying to dump Biedrins and Maggette to make the team more attractive to a potential buyer.

Obviously, this isn't about talent. Unloading Biedrins and Maggette would save the new ownership over $66 million in salary (and possibly luxury tax payments). Perhaps the new owner doesn't want to invest that kind of money in a team that isn't going to make the play-offs anytime soon. Perhaps he'd rather save the money and rebuild from the ground up with cheap young talent and draft picks.

The Warriors salary dump idea wasn't mine. I just addressed how Portland could make it happen.

I just don't think Golden State is making personel descisions based on basketball. Rather they are based on either the bottom line or whatever whim comes to the management team that day.

The Warriors have some the best fans in the NBA. It's a fucking crime what the team's owner is doing their fans.

Very True. With the young pieces the Warriors have and a potential owner who's williing spend half a billion to win a stupid boat race, I'd give up anyone on the roster if it got Cohan to sell and laugh as everyone in the front office gets fired.
