Bringing back Rodney Rogers?

The Nets have turned into a half-court team and the offense has changed much since last year..could Rodney Rogers fit with the small ball we've been playing, Rodney's ability to shoot the three and play the four could help. He played well with Kenyon out last year, even rebounding well. I wouldn't call him a permanent solution but a temporary one. He can put the ball on the floor, play a little defense and help big on the offense. This also shoves Jason Collins to the bench to be a replacement big off the bench. Yes, I would prefer Krstic in the starting lineup. Collins was born to come off the bench and play solid defense and be a big body.


This is only if we cannot find anyone else. With the Hornets trading their pieces off I'm sure he can be had at a cheap price. Moreover, I've read that Jerome Moiso has been cut so it opens up space.

Rodney is a combo forward, Iam not for sure if that is what we are looking for...I think Rod Thorn wants someone who can be successful playing the 4 or 5 spot every night. But if we were looking at a combo forward type I would rather Lee Nailon from New Orleans.

I agree with you on the fact that Krstic has earned the right to be the starter even after we get another legit bigbody at least for the time being...but I expect Krstic to hit that dreadful rookie wall come mid season. I hope not but Iam pretty sure he never played the type of minutes he is playing now on a regular basis overseas. And he will start feeling the grind of an 82 game season. That is when the acquisition of another big is going to come in handy

Lee, unlike Rodney, is more of an Iso player. We have enough of those. Rodney does put it on the floor a bunch, but he can be a spot up shooter that we could use. It's working for the Sonics to play with players who get up and shoot the transition three and other quick shots. If we cannot find another player to play in the paint, we might as well conceed that and just try to outscore other teams with quick shots like the Sonics. However, we would still play good defense to make up for our ability to not shoot as well as the Sonics.

I agree Lee is a one-on-one guy but I just think he has alot more quality basketball in him compared to Rodney. Rodney has been on the injured list alot this year. And hasnt done much on a team with little to no scoring options besides Davis(who has been out alot). Lee Nailon always proves to be a solid contributor every where he goes last year in Cleveland he was a big part of that run they went on in the 2nd half before McInnis got hurt. He played extremely well with the Knicks a couple of seasons ago. The guy can step right in almost any situation and produce.

The thing about the Sonics is they have Reggie Evans and Danny Forston who really throw their bodies around the backboard. And I think that is a secret key to their success. We dont really have that type of player in the frontcourt. Nailon isnt that type of player but neither is Rodney, that is the type of guy I would look for first and for most.

My knock on Lee Nailon is that he makes Rodney look like Ben Wallace on defense. It's just atrocious. Moreover, I was not saying we play like the Sonics because we donot have the same scheme of players, just to take their small ball formula and apply it to us. We play better defense than the Sonics and perhaps that can make up for the deficienty of not having as much offensive power or rebounding.
