Trade Idea What acquisition could mirror us getting Buck Williams

San Antonio trades Gasol, Leonard, Green. Gets CJ and ET. There's no way Toronto stays in that deal. Portland grabs that for themselves.

Except San Antonio may not send him west/he may like the big market of Canada and an easy path to the finals.

To mirror trading Sam Bowie for Buck, we'd have to trade Greg Oden for someone. Pretty sure that ship has sailed, so it's a trick question.
I see your point, but we do have a high PER former lottery pick on the block....

Kostas or Thanasis?

Well lets see.

Buck was a 3 time all-star, ROY, 2 time all defensive first team, 2 time all defensive second team.

So I guess I will go with the Antetokounmpo that was a 2 time NBA all-star, and 1 time NBA all defensive second team, so far.

What acquisition could mirror us getting Buck Williams?

Ed frickin' Davis

Can't do a S&T currently for our TPE. We're over the tax apron.

Sign and trade for Jabari P. Use the TPE on him.
Ya let's get another 23 year old with upside potential. That way Parker along with the other hand full of players we have with upside potential will be starting there prime when Dame and CJ are just ending there's.

Don't post idiocy. 23 is not 19. Parker has already had a 20 ppg season in the NBA. If he were acquired (which he really can't be reasonably), he wouldn't be an "upside potential" pickup; he would be am immediate contributor.

But please, continue the ignorant, passive-aggressive whining. It certainly improves the forum every time.

You keep banging that drum - there is SOME truth to it. But it's really more about matching skill sets than having everyone peak at the same time. If you have an all-NBA 1st team PG who is a mediocre defender you mostly need to surround him with 3&D guys who have other skills. Nurk, Collins, Aminu, Harkless, Baldwin.... check. Parker is very interesting, but Butler would take us to another level.

edit: We could REALLY use a SF who can dribble, and Butler can.

Yeah, having Magic and Kareem totally sucked for the L*kers. If only they'd gotten rid of Magic for some older PG like Pete Maravich.
Too bad that K*be didn't match Shaq's prime. Imagine if the L*kers could've had a younger Shaq or older K*be.
David Robinson and Sean Elliott hamstrung by a young Tim Duncan (or Duncan, hamstrung by a young Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili) was devastating to the Spurs' title hopes.
If only Pippen's prime would've matched up with Jordan's, imagine what they could've become.
Maybe you're on to something, though, that when we saw that Jermaine wasn't going to match Pippen's window and got rid of him that all worked out. Or when we saw that Sheed wasn't going to match Z-bo's. Or...

"Sarcasm Before Seven" brought to you by BFW. :)

I’ve been told Jimmy Butler is not a good dude. Didn’t get specifics but someone who definitely would know just said “yeah you don’t want to deal with Butler. He’s not a good guy”.

Interesting. I have always wondered about this guy. No doubt I would take a chance on him regardless, but something about him has always made me wonder if he creates chemistry problems. He has basically said the same thing now about his teammates on two separate teams. Part of me loves the "I don't give a shit if you like me...I just want to win" attitude, but another part of me makes me think he is a bit of a diva who can't play nice with others....and his teammates grow tired of it quickly.

reasons for falling to the second round of his draft? have seen it insinuated before.

Do you think Griffin would be a lot cheaper to acquire than Love with that albatross contract?

He wouldn't have those problems if he came to Portland.
