My personal favorite of plays I actually watched was the "walk off drop". They even made a T shirt for it.
Angels at A's. Game tied. Bottom of the 9th. Two out. A's have runner on third base.
Pitcher throws pitch to batter, can't remember if he swung or not but no contact was made.
Catcher then throws ball back to pitcher. Something that happens around 200 times a game, tens of thousands of times a year, millions of times in baseball history.
Pitcher dropped the ball. Runner on third base takes off for home plate. Everyone was so confused, the pitcher did not know what to do. It's a live ball. Run scores. A's win on walk off drop.
The fans were so confused no one knew what had happened until the radio broadcasters explained. Team runs out onto field to congratulate player on winning run scored without the batter ever making contact.
