One of the best and most criminally underrated comedy of the 80's is Used Cars. It's Robert Zemeckis trying out his brand of zany humor that would make Back To The Future so successful. And it's based on local car salesman Ron and Marv Tonkin's careers... Zemeckis and his writing partner, Bob Gake. went to USC with one of Tonkin kids and heard a ton of stories! It's bonkers and zany and I love it!

I liked Selling Tin with Danny DeVito

Coming to America
Trading Places
Back to the Future

Bill and Ted, Planes, trains....and Ferrris Bueller. I was in my 30's in the 80's but was no punk yuppie. Those movies cost about $3.00 to be seated. popcorn and drinks were cheap. The drive in theater experience was one in a lifetime. Many people still smell that spare tire from the trunk

One of the things that blows me away about the 80's was just how much talent was on display. You had Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Bill Murray, John Candy, all at the top of their games. SNL, Second City, National Lampoon, all made their marks on Hollywood. Modern comedies don't seem to be good at all. Its just a bunch of dick jokes and improv. The last film that had me rolling in the isles was Tropic Thunder.

I liked the Fletch movies, The Distinguished Gentleman, and Planes/Trains

Just off your list, my favorites are Raising Arizona, Princess Bride, and Beverly Hills Cop.

Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2
Stripes
Trading Places
Ghost Busters
Back to the Future
Blues Brothers
Goonies
Gung Ho / Mr Mom
Coming to America
Major League!!!!
Turner and Hooch

God... the list goes on and on. Comedy sucks right now.

The wizard
Beetlejuice
Roger rabbit
Weird science

I blame Will Ferrell.

Twins... lol, I don't know why that movie cracked me up so much.

I blame Will Ferrell.

Will Ferrell is definitely part of it. So was Vince Vaughn, and Ben Stiller, and Adam Sandler.

Hollywood got to the point where it wouldn't make a comedy unless one of five comedians were attached to it. I'm sure Kevin Hart is currently on that list. It's stupid. They aren't developing any new talent. The 80's was the product of the late 70's with SNL. There was this huge pool of talent that was developing, and once they had an outlet they just exploded with all these great movies. Hollywood doesn't take risks anymore though. There aren't very many romantic comedies either. They're only making blockbusters.

I wish Andy samberg made more movies. Anything he does I think is hilarious.

All that may be true to a point, but part of it is just the times we live in and that comedies are mostly made for high schoolers. Back when we were younger those were our movies, but right now I'm sure there are some comedies that are coming out that the kids of today will bring up in 3 decades with the same claims that they just don't make like they used to.

Also, much of the writing and acting talents today is pushed towards TV programming, which I do believe is leaps and bounds better than it has ever been.

But every decade does something a little better. 80's was movies, 90's was music, 00's reinvented video games, 10's is quality TV programming. At least, that's' my quick and dirty analysis. Of course the TV shows began improving the decade before, and there was some great music in every decade. But all in all, there are highlight moments.
