Well, what do you all think the Knicks can do?According to the updated roster on the knicks site, Channing Frye is now a center. With the current squad, I'd like to see the team:Point Guard: Steve Francis - Explosive enough for a point guard. Can pass the ball, decent passer. Good rebounder for a point guard. Solid shooter, can drive to the basket and score easily when focused. Needs to work on team attitude, hard work and work ethic. Needs to love the game. good leadership when happy with team.Shooting Guard: Stephon Marbury - Starbury, Knicks fans are fine with you emerging back as "Starbury". But, please, do it as a shooting guard. The full potential of the Knicks' roster can't be reached if Francis is on the bench. Marbury is a great shooter and a good driver, and he wants to score, not pass (even though he's a good passer) He fits the SG spot well.Small Forward: Quentin Richardson - At 6'6, he is small for a SF, but he is listed as F-G. He can switch, he is one of the best man to man defenders on the team. He can shoot, defend, drive, and pass. That's all a SF in the Knicks' system needs to do.Power Forward: Channing Frye - Please, do not become a center. lol, Channing Frye would be massacred at that spot, but he is safer down at Power forward. He is a good shooter for a forward but needs to develop post offensive and defensive skills. He has potential though. Needs to improve defense and rebounding tremendously.Center: Eddy Curry - Good on offense, decent on defense. Needs to, however, improve defense, be a more consistent scorer, handle the ball better and be confident.6th Man: Jamal Crawford.I'm sure Stephon and Steve will be happy to play under Isiah Thomas. Stephon particularly has expressed his happiness that Isiah is coaching. I don't think Thomas is better than Brown but as long as the stars are happy, fine.My question is, why haven't the Knicks made an good trades yet?
 
To tell you the truth, I think the Knicks have an outside chance at stealing the 8th seed.

But if I'm the Knicks, I look to trade both Marbury and Francis for sooner expiring deals and maybe an ok young wing. Then I would let all those terrible contracts expire, go on a 4-5 year plan. The only guys on the team I would keep for sure would be Channing Frye, Nate Robinson, David Lee, Jamal Crawford, and Eddy Curry (but I would be straight with Curry - lose that extra weight or you won't play as much). Then I would also keep Jalen Rose and let his contract expire after this season, just let him walk. Then I would do anything/everything in my power to get contracts like Maurice Taylor, Malik Rose, Jerome James, Stephon Marbury, and Steve Francis off the roster. It's basically impossible, but I would try my hardest. Then you build (through draft/free agency) from there.
 
They definetly have one of if not THE most talented team in the league
 
but just talent alone wont get you anywhere, this team needs to come together if it wants to win.
 
trade marbury/francis and start rebuilding around Robinson and Frye..make a 5 year plan

Allan Houston's contract is still in effect, as well, i believe. The Knicks are pretty screwed over when it comes to money right now, they can't make good signings. Jalen Rose will be a solid veteran prescence this season, and after, i agree, they should let him sign elsewhere. Channing Frye has potential to be an allstar, just needs to keep at it. Eddy Curry, needs to improve. He's a solid scorer, but you're right, he needs to get in shape. Once he cuts weight he'll lose a lot of strength because apparently, his body mass is what gives him strength. He should weight lift a bit. I can see a good future from Eddy Curry. As for Maurice Taylor, Malik Rose, and Herome James, I'm sure teams would trade for some of them. They're solid, experianced veterans and can give teams boosts off the bench.

Well, in my eyes, Marbury/Francis are basically the same. They are both combo guards that would rather score 25 and dish 8 assists than score 15 and win the game. They are both selfish, overpaid, past their time, and Marbury is an idiot lol. Just listen/read his past 5-10 interviews, he has 3 opinions on every situation. Francis is selfish, doesn't fit with the Knicks, and not a real PG. Neither one can play defense. I mean I could go on and on. Both of these guys need to be dealt.
 
As we all know, the Knicks are guard heavy. They have way too many capable guards that deserve playing time. I agree with the notion to trade EITHER stephon or steve, I just dont know which one. If I had to chose one to trade, it would be Stephon. Even though he has a bigger contract, I think that he is the better player. Also, he has already given it a go in New York as their best player. Since Steve has been in New York, he has had to split time. He hasnt been allowed to play a 40 minute game where he is running the show. This team has the talent, they just need to work together better as we all know.I hate to say it....but maybe Isiah being the head coach is what they need. Stephon was glad to get Larry Brown out of town so if they intend on keeping Starbury, he will play with more motivation and determination. Isiah put together this squad, so he must have had a remotley decent idea of what he was going to do with them. For Isiah's sake, I hope this squad puts together a decent season.
 
the knicks in my opinion should keep marbury and trade francis. he did absolutely nothing productive for us in the limited time he has been here. i mean the knicks had enough guards and i have no idea why isiah would even consider trading for him unless he was trading one of his guards. crawford was rumored to be traded for francis but after seeing the way craw played the last month of the season i'll take him over francis any day.now what the knicks need to do is realize that the entire world is against them and they are all betting that they will have another disasterous season. that should motivate them to go out and prove all those douchebags wrong. i see them winning at least 30 games. i'm not expecting great things but i am expecting improvement. they have a few expiring contracts and i think they should let them go so they clear space. i don't think it would be good to trade them because they don't need to add more salary they need to clear it. they have 3 really good sophomores and 2 pretty good rookies. they should build around these guys. frye is a really good player and should be for a long time. nate dawwwwg is just an athletic freak. he plays with so much passion. d-lee? well he is in my signature so let me just describe him in 2 words, the man. balkman and collins should be solid contributors in a few years. collins prob won't get any burn this season but he has good size and plays d. balkman will bring hustle, heart and the defensive intensity they need.also i haven't heard much talk about kenyon martin coming to the knicks. those talks have stopped. hopefully that means that they aren't going after that injury prone scrub.let's go NYK prove these clowns wrong in '06-'07.

Now, you also said that you expect them to win at least 30 games. Would that be "proving people wrong" like you say. I dont think people are as against this club as you think. People think that this team can even make the playoffs with a different mind set. They have the talent and they COULD make the playoffs without anymore offseason aquisitions. They just have to change the way they play together and Isiah is going to have to earn his money for once.

Hopefully for the benefit of the Knicks they can pull off some trades this year to free some cap...two players that cross my mind are crawford and francise...francis did nothing for you guys, just sat on his ass and collected his paycheque! Crawford whenever Marbury was injured I think was really determined and played outstanding, however his contract is really hurting the Knicks so he has got to go. If they trade them I wouldnt be surprised if they really got nothing in return...like and player with an expiring contract for francis and a 2nd round pick. It's kindof like what Colangelo did when he traded Rose to you guys...we got a non-factor in Davis for one of our leading scorers Rose and we added a draft pick...but look at what transpired Davis' contract expired and we free'd up a ton of cap. Concerning the Knicks this season, I honestly dont think you guys will finish in the bottom five like alot of people are predicting. Only if the Knicks played as a team then maybe they could surpas 22 wins from last season.One more thing....the Knicks would definitly make the playoffs if the players were in their last year of their contract. (everyone becomes a superstar in contract seasons)
 
crawford's contract really isn't that big. it's a long term deal but it's not like francis who is almost double what crawford is making. crawford $7.2 mil, francis $15 mil.
 
True, be he has the most years left on his contract then anyone else on the team and his salary goes up by like a million every year.Looking at the Knicks salary cap I have no clue what Thomas was thinkikng...for example trading Mohammed who was getting double double for you guys for Malik Rose..who has two years left on his contract for like 7 million, sigining jerome james, trading for curry, trading for rose, TRADING FOR FRANCIS!Knicks just need to start the rebuilding process and trade everyone away, even if its for a bag of shiny new spalding balls.
 
that has nothing to do with crawford. seriously his contract doesn't hurt them at all. it's not like it's $20 mil and goes up to $22 mil like marbury's. it goes from $7.2 mil to $9.3 mil. that's not as bad as both francis and marbury. yea signing jj was stupid, i never supported it but he got him before he knew he could get curry so i think if he knew he could get him he never would've wasted money on that scrub.
 
I guess your right about Crawford's contract, its not that big...it'll look alot better in a couple of years when the new collective barganing agreement comes into terms. Its just something about long term contracts that I dont like (with the exception of superstar players).Hopefully for the Knick sake they could find a suitor for some of your players, especially near the deadline when contenters are looking for veterens to help make a push for the 'ship'. Anyways I can't wait until the season starts and watch my Raps play at MSG.
 
Im usually the first one to knock the knicks, but i really think with all that talent they can only get better.Sometimes all it takes is a coaching change, bad / good media roasting, things like that. I think the stars are going to be so embarrassed that they will start performing. Dont change a thing knicks just hang in there (or maybe send steve francis to fat camp :HAHAHA: )
 
Yeah now with Isiah being thenew coach things will be better. What people have to realize about sports is that it is not mainly about the physical side, it's the mental side and the chemistry. You need chemistry which makes you form as a team. Knicks were not near a team last year. We had 43 different starting rotations, we were a mess with Larry. Marbury and Larry didn't like eachother either.You need a PG and coach relationship to be successful. For example, Wade and Riley, the 06 champs, they got along so well.So hopefully the Knicks turn more into a team next year, we are very good on paper so if we form as a team we'd be good on paper and on the standings.
 
I read an article on RealGM that basically stated some guys like Jalen Rose, Francis, and Malik Rose should purposely be left on the reserve spots.Isiah should have some kind of control over the rotation this year. Too many overinflated egos on the court at once spells disaster. Do not attempt to trade the overinflated egos; just let them rot on the reserve list until their contracts expire. The Knicks main problem is management sees names on the jersey, instead of roles to be played. LB didn't help anything by never establishing a rotation last year. Unselfish, young, team players are needed in the rotation, and Marbury needs a chance to redeem himself. Either Balkman or Jeffries. But I think Wizards will match Jeffries' offer.
 
they already signed deshawn stevenson. why would they sign jeffries now? i think he might as well get that jersey ready cuz i think he's a knick now.
 
In my opinion we should keep our roster like it is..Keep Crawford as 6th man and Qrich starting and 7th man is Jalen rose..Start Frye at PF and Curry at Center..8th man should be Renaldo Balkman..And we shouldnt keep changing that lineup!
 
this is the same team that went 23-59 and added balkman and collins who most likely will get no burn. jefferies is gonna be a plus for us on the defensive end, anything on offense is gravy. rose should rot on the bench too. it should be an 9 man rotation.marbury/natecrawford/qjefferies/lee/balkmanfrye/leecurry/frye

Why do you guys not like Rose?i remember when he was on the bulls and i would check the box score he would always have like 30 every game
 
because he's old and overpriced. if he was cheaper i wouldn't mind but he makes over $15 mil on a team that is filled with players similar to him. i think he's a very good player but not for this team.
