What could Meyers do...

He’s played 80 mins this year. He’s not going to end up shooting 50% from 3. He won’t shoot 66% from the field. He scored 17 his last game which is great and such a big deal he had to post a pic of himself giving a big ROARRRR about it. He’s a tool.

The tool would be the person saying ML obviously sucks if you watch him play, then justifies it by saying: a) his good play this year is not sustainable, and b) the opinion is based on previous years. I guess you have to watch old footage to see how bad he is and why he should be booed currently?

In the same vain, why are we cheering for such a small sample size when the bigger sample size is more representative? It works both ways.

To be fair, Meyers looks decent out there most of the time this season.

Because the smaller sample size is more representative of his current level of play.

Players get better and players get worse. Meyers improved production seems to correlate with the work he put in over the summer.

Is his current level of production sustainable? Not likely. He probably won't go an entire season with a 21.3 PER, scoring 20.3 points per 36 with a .696 TS%. Not many players are capable of putting up those kind of numbers over an entire 82 game NBA season.

So, what if he tapers off to PER = 15, points per 36 = 14 and TS% = .600? That's still significant improvement, and improvement is a good thing, even if it's just going from bad to average.

I don't personally boo our own players, but if the fans insist on booing someone, it should be the guy who has gone from average to bad, who isn't putting in any effort and had been a complete no show since opening night. If you're going to boo someone, at lest boo the guy who isn't even trying, not the guy who is.

So, he's a tool because he shows emotion when he does something good?

What's that make the guy who makes more money, but doesn't put forth any effort at all?

I find Mo Harkless' complete lack of effort much more offensive than Meyers' posturing and roaring.

I wish Mo would do something roar worthy, but that would require actual effort. Something he appears incapable of doing. He's sleepwalking through this entire season, and to me, that makes him a MUCH bigger tool than Meyers Leonard, or anyone else on this team.

So, you admit it's based on history, not on his play this year?

You agreed with me. I was making a sarcastic comment at calvin natt's expense.
My mistake. Things get lost if you don't read the entire thread. I miss that sometimes.

Yeah, no.

Because the smaller sample size is more representative of his current level of play.

This.

Strenuus, if you're gonna go "liking" all the posts disparaging Meyers, you have to realize the irrational hatred is pretty transparent when you then respond with weak ass stuff like that.

Yeah, no.

He simply doesn't like Meyers. i have seen this on multiple boards. Doesn't matter that the guy worked hard all summer and his game as improved. It's too little too late in their mind. They are DONE with him. No room for improvement and there will never be a change.

It’s not hatred
The annoyance is far far from irrational. If someone can’t see it, fine, but you can’t convince me he’s a good player who isn’t annoying as shit. Because to me he is.

Being annoying has no affect on his basketball skills. Being 'annoyed' is an emotional response, which is usually accompanied by being irrational.

Agreed. If I were coaching ML, or in his inner circle, I would suggest he tone down the antics. He's trying too hard to prove himself, and looking like an insecure teenage girl in the process. That has nothing to do with his value on the court, though. At least he's trying to prove himself.

If you don’t think he also 100% annoys the shit out of his teammates you’d be wrong. Are they “less annoyed” when he plays well? Yes. So he should be more tolerable if he plays well. But the guy isn’t the most popular Blazer in the locker room I guarantee that.

So now you have him as a problem in the locker room? Wow? The hatred is strong in this one.....

Mine is not weak. It's true.

Sorry, I just know I'm right. <3

I dont agree. He'll regress to the mean we're accustomed to see. Sorry, but he's done it before in those smaller sample sizes where people thought he turned a corner. He probably never will.

Ill cheer him when he becomes consistent. 80 minutes isn't consistent.

You got a point. 87 mins over 8 games so far shouldn't be the tell all. See where he is after 20 games 300 minutes. This is pretty much what it took to get the Pat Haters to settle down a bit.

Not a problem. But 100% guys are thinking “man, Meyers, cool it with the flexing and roaring and just play and shut up”. That is all.

a 7'1" person with his big bodied athletic frame has only had 9 double-doubles in his 5+ years of being here. just that stat alone should warrant him off this team.

i mostly blame the coaching in telling him that setting a pick 35 feet out and standing at the 3 point line is ok when it IS NOT FOR A CENTER!!!

Yup. We dont give a shit about any improvement. None of his marginal improvement justifies his contract and the soonest he can be off this team the better. It's not like he's contributing to any wins.

Be honest. Until the season started you didn't know Pat was gonna play as well as he is. No one did. He received criticism. Not the overused word "hate". Pat looked like garbage in SL.

Everyone but Prunetang was wondering why Pat wasn't going to baseball after that SL.

And I think Prunetang was just being contriarian.

Meyers has shown nothing beyond small spurts. Hence my "representative" comment, which is accurate because it's true.

I'll be honest. I called it in the middle of summer flat out. Don't even question that. Go read my game thread from the very first game. Pat didn't look like garbage in summer league. He pulled a hammy and didn't play.

Absolutely wrong. Bones called it too. Three or four posters called Pat Con during the summer.

We had this conversation before. I know where you stand. No reason to go over it again.

And we know where you stand on those of us who want him gone. You don't see us telling you what to post. :dunno:

Did i tell you what to post? Sorry if it came across that way. You just responded to my post so i didn't see a reason to argue the point. I know where you stand. You want him gone.
