People in Broadway circles always say stuff like "Yeah, but no one outside of NYC knows who that is." So I'm curious what you guys know about Broadway. I've prepared a quiz out of curiosity. These questions are incredibly easy to answer if you live in NYC and care about the theater. Don't google and don't look at other people's answers. I'll tell you the correct answers later tonight. Thanks In advance!

1. Name the Broadway actress who last year won her sixth Tony Award. Name at least one of the shows she won a Tony Award for.

2. Name one Broadway show that Sutton Foster has been in. If you have never heard of Sutton Foster, then say so.

3. Name one Broadway show that Kelli O'Hara has been in. If you have never heard of Kelli O'Hara, then say so.

4. Name one Broadway musical that has won the Tony for Best Musical in this century.

5. What is the name of the Stephen Schwartz musical about the witches from The Wizard of Oz? Name another Stephen Schwartz musical for bonus points.

6. Who is Lin Manuel Miranda?

7. Name one Broadway theater.

8. Who is Kristin Chenoweth? What 2 major awards has she won?

10. Name one musical written by Rodgers & Hammerstein.

11. Which of the following 4 titles is the name of a Broadway musical: Annie Hall, The Book of Mormon, Tootsie, or Singing on the Corner

Finally.... Name 5 Broadway musicals. They needn't be on Broadway currently.

Jeeesssh SPD..no offence intended, but just knowing that much makes me question your sexual preference

Does loving basketball make me straight?

King, as I said , I meant no offence. It is common knowledge that Broadway does enjoy the same degree of attention as San Francisco does. Not a slander, merely an observation. To point out the vastness of SPDs knowledge on the subject was more of a tip of the hat in jest.

Of course. I'm just curious if I'm straight and have been hiding it all along.

I'm not sure what you're saying here? Do you mean that the primary attendees to Broadway shows are gay?

I love Broadway and have to admit that I grew up in a house where my mom was always listening to musicals. I still know the words to most 60s and 70s musicals. That said, those questions are tough! I could answer about half.

My favorite Broadway memory was when I was in NY about a month after 9/11. Went and saw Les Miz (5th time!), which was closing its run at that time. It was such an emotional event, with tons more meaning than the show, and the show is the best. Also saw Bernadette Peters close Gypsy and that was fantastic.

Broadway is one of the great things you can do.

Given a choice of 3 month at sea or being force to sit through that many plays, guess what I would choose? I did go to a Broadway play once though. And once in Chicago. Not my thing but I love some of the music from Broadway.

Uh, Book of Mormon looks like something I wouldn't mind going to?

I know 4,9,10 and 11. All others are over my head. But just cause I don't know who anyone is, doesn't mean I don't appreciate it. I've never seen a show on Broadway, but I've seen at least four traveling Broadway productions when they come to Portland. My favorite so far was Miss Siagon about 20 years ago. I wanted to see the book of Morman but decent seats started at $400, which I can't afford right now.

Ive seen most of the touring productions of all the big shows, my highlight would probably be I saw superstar with Ted Neeley, hes a pretty amazing singer.

Avenue Q was pretty great. Cats sucked, Rent was cool, Caberet was slutty hot, spring awakening was weird, Annie was pretty impressive for the kids talent. Is grease a Broadway show? Seen that.

As far as the trivia goes, I don't know much about the actual Broadway in NY, except they say the neon lights are pretty bright there.

Just to be sure, what are your answers for 4,9,10 and 11? As far The Book of Mormon goes, they do a lottery 2.5 hours before each show. If you win, you get great seats for like $20-37 depending on where you are. (Tour or Broadway). Also, if you ever let me know in advance, I have access to house seats (the best seats in the house) for normal full price (around $170) and not the premium price (around $400.)

You've seen lots of good stuff. Cool. Avenue Q is awesome, hated Cats the first time but appreciated it's suckiness later, hated Rent the first time but LOVED it later, Cabaret is a great show but I didn't like the revival, Spring Awakening is weird but executed well (I actually played one of the leads in one of the workshops when it was being developed), and I love Annie.

I saw Cabaret when it was at Portland Center Stage with Storm Large... it was phenomonal.

Saw the Seattle run of Young Frankenstein with Megan Mullally (Karen from Will and Grace) and that was great.

Rent is my go to, seen it way too many times.

I have -read- and -listened- to Avenue Q, but haven't seen it, which sounds weird. Still needs to see Cats. Spring Awakening hahaha. That's a trip,

I love musicals. I hate that stereotype, and any stereotype really.

I'll stop before completely ascending my soap box.
