What do you think Greg will average next year, no matter what team he chooses?

A taller Brandon Roy

He'll be getting drunk at the bars in a new city.

I don't know if those numbers are "nothing special," given that there are only about 25 guys in the league getting 8+ rpg, and there are less than 10 guys getting a "couple of blocks" per game.

Yep, that line could have been enough to get us to WCF's at some point(except for our other injury issues).

I think he'll come back, look decent, and then get injured again. It's really only a matter of time.

exactly, there are all of 4 players getting 8/8 with 2 blocks, duncan, dho, hibbert, and noah

that said, if he doesnt get injured and can still move laterally he will put that up give or take

I hope for his sake that he can stay healthy and put up 8/8/2, but if history is any indicator he's got a tough road to hoe.

if he starts the season with a team next year, he will have been off the floor for over 1400 days straight...wowsa

i like to go to his bbref page sometimes and drool over his stats in 09/10 (although he never made it to 10) and kick myself in the nuts

as a 22 year old

11.1/8.5/2.3 blocks in 23.9 mpg

trb% of 21.9, block% of 7.7, ws/48 of .214!

:(

As was said, 8/8/2 isn't nothing special, esp for him but 15/10/3 isn't dominating either. For examples of dominating, look up David Robinson, Akeem, and Shaq. They dominated. There are no dominant centers in the league right now. Heat don't even have a center and they're champs!

I have to hand it to the guy for at least trying to come back. I have had doubts that he has the strength of will to do the conditioning/rehab work.

I mean, since presumably he doesn't need the $, maybe he's coming back because he really wants to play and loves the game.

he'll be the top defensive center in the league within a few months. he's basically what we need to get to a legit playoff team. blah!

Just sign him ourselves if he an pass an examination - he owes it to Portland to return a Blazer if he is truly able to play and can prove so by working out in front of brass and medical staff....

Greg Oden will never return to the scene of the crime. Not ever.

When I read the title to this thread I thought you meant what do I expect to happen when Oden comes back to the Rose Garden next season. My first thought was that I expect his knees to explode the moment he steps on the court. Kind of like ceramic jars stuffed with fire crackers on the 4th of July.

I was thinking the same thing. I would kill for us to have a center to be that "Nothing Special"

WAIT so a team picked him up? Which team? When is he supposed to come back?

His rookie contract expired so we didn't "release him."

So what do you think, we probably should have thrown a max contract at him right?

I actually think he was released

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7...zers-waive-former-no-1-overall-pick-greg-oden

Greg Oden's time with the Portland Trail Blazers, which effectively ended in February when it was announced that he would soon be undergoing his third microfracture knee surgery, is officially over now.

The Blazers waived Oden Thursday because they needed to create roster room to accommodate all the Portland players acquired earlier in the day in separate trades with New Jersey and Houston.

I think that people who were dancing at center court the day we drafted him will actively root for him to injure himself again so that they can lie and say they knew it all along that he would be a bust and we should have drafted Durant.

Po-tay-to, po-tah-to. It was the last year of his rookie deal.

Yeah I feel ya. I doubt oden even agrees to stay; even if we wanted him to anyway. I think we released to get the cap hold off our cap for the hibbert offer.

Been saying it for a while. No reason to sign a contract now, rush yourself back (relative term with Oden) and just hurt ones self when most likely the team you are going to isn't making playoffs anyways.

I think CLE makes sense for him but he should wait until summer to sign.

It would be so nice if he came back to PDX. I think the fan base would welcome him with open arms.
