Maybe it could be a college movie like Revenge of the Nerds, but what movie about school was really big while you were in high school? Superbad was really big while i was in it, and i think Napoleon Dynamite came out while i was just entering. I'm curious to see what some of the old farts say :devilwink:.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Phoebe Cates Boobs FTW!

Dazed and Confused

Clueless

Several come to mind

Fast Times
Risky Business
Fame
Porky's
The Outsiders
Valley Girl
Red Dawn
16 Candles
Revenge of the Nerds

A couple of those might have been after 83'

Movies about school... hmm probably those teen flicks like She's All that, 10 Things I hate About You, American Pie(s)

American Pie came out while I was in high school, but I was a bigger fan of Fast Times and Dazed and Confused. Both of those are classics.

I seem to remember Dances With Wolves, Home Alone and Jurassic Park being the big ones.

Edit: Nevermind I guess I didn't get the point of this thread. :)

I knew a Wooderson. What made that role funny was I bet everyone here knew one of those guys.

To add to the list: Blade Runner; Caddyshack; Ferris Bueller's Day Off; Spinal Tap; Airplane

In middle school, I remember sneaking into Alien . . . big mistake.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

That movie was a sensation. Extremely popular with the kids.

And why not? Set in a California school with "average" type kids who worked crap jobs at the mall, struggled in school, and struggled in love, kids could easily relate.

Add in the standard exploitation mix of sex, drugs and rock & roll, but balance that with a good screenplay (Cameron Crowe!), a great, young cast: Sean Penn!, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Judge Reinhold, who all got a major career boost from this movie.

Oh yeah, and Phoebe Cates' boobs.

This will probably make me sound like an old man, but does anyone feel sorry for current students due to the lack of these kind of movies lately? All i can think of off of the top of my head is shit like Project X and 21 and Over. I'm sure i'm forgetting some big movies.

Now there are two extremes: On one end there is Superbad and 21 Jump Street. On the other end there is High School Musical and Glee.

Well, maybe not "high school" movies, but here are a few that came to mind

Animal House
Blazing Saddles
Caddy Shack
West World
Myra Breckinridge
Young Frankenstein
Live and Let Die
Tommy
I Am Curious (Yellow)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Can't Hardly Wait was the big High School movie when I was at the tail end of High School.

not sure when dazed and confused came out, but we watched it a shitload in "high" school

There wasn't a lot to choose from in the early 90's.

this.

Before D&C and Clueless, and after all the mid-80s Molly Ringwald/Corey Feldman vehicles.

Though I did watch a lot of MM's movies when I was a kid.
